AcidRaZor 0 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I upgraded last week and removed the old MediaBrowser app from my Roku. Then when trying to watch MKV files which used to work perfectly, it didn't. I tried on the server itself and it played, so doubt it was a codec issue (I reinstalled/upgraded codecs on the server anyway). Eventually I tried re-adding the old MediaBrowser app for Roku and could play MKV files immediately. Tried it in the new Emby for Roku, same issue. Narrowed it down to the new version on Roku. Currently using the old version to stream my MKV's because I'm not going to bother re-encoding something that used to work just because an application decided to stop support for it.
dansblackcat 37 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 MKV is one of the main media file formats supported by Roku, so I would seriously doubt that Emby would be dropping support. Possibly just a bug?
speechles 2010 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) MKV plays perfectly fine with the latest app. Have you tried going to settings and updating your roku? Also make sure your server version is updated to latest version of your flavor, release/beta/Dev. When you do this, your roku may announce its updating firmware. This is fine. The firmware update adds the "feeds" option to movies/TV shows, allows you to "follow" movies/tv shows, adds voice support for the new roku remotes, and detection for the new models which now come with the voice remotes. Emby for roku may be able to make use of the voice remotes hopefully, cmon api/SDK updates!!! This would put it more on par with other devices. Edited April 7, 2015 by speechles
matrixebiz 1 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I'm using a Roku3 and everything is updated as of yesterday and MKV's are playing fine for me.
AcidRaZor 0 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 I tried it today and it is working. Think my tweet yesterday helped as I couldnt post here immediately.
