Hi Guys,

 

With all the cool stuff being done with SDHdhomerun support(very nice BTW ) , was wondering if everything was in place for the win8 app to direct stream as well?

 

Seems that there are two major audiences for this functionality.

 

1) hdhomerun owners that don't have an extend model. That don't need transcoding, can play the native dlna stream. Just need stream characteristics so the player can know what to do.

 

2) hdhomerun users that have an extend model and want the transcoding to happen on that device. It seems that cool stuff is being done to really leverage the nuances of that device.

 

I haven't seen any mention of the first group. I know that is probably a given due to the stuff for the extend model.

 

7 do changes need to be made to the app or can tweaks to the streaming profile be made to support direct stream for group 1).

I  think the app can support an mp4 stream currently for the group 2 folks. Management of the transcode options for the extend group is probably more work.

 

Obviously I am in group one  and wanting the app just  to be able to play the native stream.

Makes sense, the need to have one to test/develop support for all the nuances. Your account is still active on my server if that helps

 

But how about the two default streams. We know the player as is works just fine with native ts stream from the non Extend models you just need to know the container and codec.(I think). Interrogate the info and say yup that will be fine....

Not sure what direct play profile is being read, Tell me where and what to put in it

 

I am pretty sure you can find a volunteer to test with Extend model I think it is just mp4.

 

I know I am making it sound easy. ...

It's because I got some limitations on LiveTV feeds atm, so nothing will help. But I can play with your server once I got a new beta going. (Code ain't compiling atm)
