Luke, no offense. I wouldn't post this if I thought there was a chance I had somehow mucked things up. I'm not saying it was MB for sure. What I am saying is I believe some combination of the items that interact with those folders caused the issue. And since Akensai and I had the exact same issue and plugins, it sounds like it may be an issue there. Just as an aside, I've been an IT guy for 25+ years and realize how software interactions can be problematic to trace, as I do it every day.
