Shepy 1
I've just added the latest Big Bang Theory, for example, and watched the most recent one last week. It shows as 1 episode unviewed in the show information, but it doesnt appear in next up or suggested. What criteria dictate if it appears in there, so that new episodes filter in as they arrive? Shepy 1
They do have, and they appear in the correct location under the show. https://www.dropbox.com/s/h3hdfijro27vdhg/Screenshot%202015-02-03%2020.01.16.png?dl=
ginjaninja 537
i believe the current criteria is.. Edit a series becomes eligable for next up once an episode has been watched. The episode on next up is the earliest unwatched episode in the latest season with a watched episode. If the last two episodes of last season with watched content are watched..then the first episode of the following season is on next up. However if only the last episode of the last season (rather than last 2) is watched..then earlier episodes from the last season will not appear on next up (unlike with previous seasons)..the show is considered finished. Oddly complicated.. Check the next up view in webclient for troubleshooting before moving on to clients. it helps to confirm your server/client versions when reporting issues.. from your screenshot..i would have expected S8E13 to show on next up... Solution ginjaninja 537 Posted February 19, 2015 Solution Share Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) Not checked nuances with specials..do you have any for this show? 3.0.5527.42543 correction..for next up purposes a1 - a watched season is one where the last episode is watched...or where at least 2 episodes of a later season are watched...or where 1 episode of a season two ahead is watched... eg season 1 is watched if season 3 has 1 watched episode)..watched seasons episodes are not eligible for next up. a2 - an unwatched season is the opposite.. one where the last episode is not watched (and two episodes of a subsequent season are not watched)...episodes in unwatched seasons are eligible for next up r1 one episode has to be watched for show to be eligible for next up.. R2 - if the last episode of a season is watched (a1) then the whole season is not eligible for next up..nor any preceeding seasons..episodes in following season are eligible..if the last episode of last season is watched then whole show is watched (for next up purposes) and not eligible for next up.. r2a - .if 2 episodes of a season are watched then no preceding seasons are eligible for.next up..preceding seasons are considered watched..same as a2. r3 - if there is only one episode watched in the earliest unwatched season, then the earliest unwatched episode in the unwatched season is on next up... except r4 r3b - if there are two or more watched episodes in the earliest unwatched season, the earliest unwatched episode after the penultimately watched (second to latest) episode in the unwatched season is on next up..except r4.. r4b - a watched episode in a later unwatched season changes the dynamic...the season eligible for next up is no more than 1 earlier than the latest unwatched season with a watched episode. r4a if there is 1 episode watched in a later unwatched season ...then the episode after the latest watched in the unwatched season is on next up. r4c if there are 2 watched episodes in a later unwatched season then a2 would apply. r5 - specials in the show change the dynamic in an unintelligible (to mere mortals) way. so for 4 season show of 12 episodes per season. ...all unwatched..no next up (r1) ...any combination with s04e12 watched...no next up (r2) ...all unwatched save s01e06..then s01e01 on next up (r3) ..all unwatched save s01e03 and s01e08..then s01e04 on next up (r3b) ...all unwatched save s01e03, s01e08 and s01e11..then s01e09 on next up (r3b) ....all unwatched save s01e06..and all of s02...then s03e01 on next up (r2 and r3) ...all unwatched save s01e06, s02e06, s02e07 then s02e08 on next up (r2a) ....s01e06, s02e06, s03e06, s04e06 watched..else unwatched..then s03e07 on next up (earliest unwatched season is 3, because season 4 has1 watched content (a1) so s02 watched ..so s03e07 on next up not s03e01 due to r4a ) maybe there is a simpler way of describing the ruleset..it seems unnecessarily complex and its difficult to understand what use case is being accommodated for by the complexity.specials take you to the twilight zone :-).. Alternative description... one watched episode in a season S0X moves season eligability to >=S0(X-1) two watched episode in a season S0X moves season eligability to >=S0X if P is the target season for next up then P is the smallest value satisfying two rules above if Q is the episode on next up and R is the 2nd to latest watched episode in P then Q is earliest unwatched episode if <=1 episodes in P are watched else next unwatched episode > R Edited February 19, 2015 by ginjaninja
ginjaninja 537
presumably the metadata could place all episodes from all seasons, including specials with positioning metadata, on 1 dimension which can be indexed from 1 to Top.. Next up is either the lowest unwatched index or one more than the highest watched index (user preference) Whether episodes with next up index=1 (completely unwatched) appear on next up could be user preference) a lot less complicated and predictable. Shepy 1
Not checked nuances with specials..do you have any for this show? I had: z:\television\The Big Bang Theory\Season 1\ z:\television\The Big Bang Theory\Season 2\ etc, but also a single file z:\television\The Big Bang Theory\Bloopers Season 1 - 5.avi Deleted that, and the Next Up started working perfectly. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much. \Bloopers i would have thought should not enter into next up calculation as they dont conform..shows could have an 'other' unstructured/unordered category next to season 1/2/3/specials which is just ordered by name...or jyst ignored/not added to library for not conforming to mb3 standards...within a detected tv show.. Shepy 1
\Bloopers i would have thought should not enter into next up calculation as they dont conform.. Was definitely that, episodes for this show were not showing in Next Up. As soon as i deleted that bloopers episode from the root folder of the show, they appeared in Next Up instantly.
