new NUC and HP mini PCs

The new HP mini PCs and the new version of the NUC look really interesting.

 

The HP mini PCs are really cheap and come with Win8.1 installed but you lose the IR receiver. But for those who just want an HTPC with BT then the HP could be a good buy. Also they will be upgradeable (HD, Ram).

 

The new NUC models are mostly CPU upgrades over the last gen versions but there are some interesting things with them as well. Most models have WiFi built in now for those who need it and they are a little shorter then before (both the short version and the tall version that supports a 2.5" HD)

 

The really interesting part is that the top lid is removable now and can be replaced with accessory lids. Hauppague was demoing a TV Tuner lid that goes on the NUC. That could be really cool for a complete HTPC with TV Tuner in a tiny box. (the lid uses USB2 and NFC to communicate with the chassis)
