Scan media library failed. Illegal characters in path.

I got this error message when I tried to do a refresh:

Scan media library failed.

Illegal characters in path.

How can I identify where these illegal characters are so I can fix this?

Post a log or look in the log for that same error "Illegal characters in path".

http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/

This directory is empty:

C:\ProgramData\MediaBrowser-Server\logs

I have "Enable Debug Logging" checked under the advanced settings so I am guessing I'm looking in the wrong directory - where should they be?

Wrong location.  (%appdata%\MediaBrowser-Server\logs  or  C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\logs)

Wow, I have 2 log files from today and they are 7 gb and 3.2 gb - why in the world are they so big? I'm having trouble opening and searching these because textpad can barely handle them.

Okay so here is where it is - doesn't tell me much:

Program data path: C:\Users\Remote\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server

Application Path: C:\Users\Remote\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe

Illegal characters in path.

System.ArgumentException

Remove the existing log files.

And execute a new scan. Now the files will be smaller. :)

Thanks - I just did that but the error message is still the same as posted above.

Are you using DLNA (Server). If not can you disable that feature? I see "many" errors for DLNA

Did you run the library scan again? I don't see any error about illegal path's.

I have a DLNA receiver but I haven't really used it much so I can turn that off.

I ran a scan on one of my folders and I see the error - do a search for "Illegal"

The bold part below

\\server\HD Movies\2\Waiting for Superman\Trailers\Waiting for Superman ()-trailer.mov

Okay thanks, I changed the name to "Waiting for Superman-trailer.mov" so I think it should be okay now.

I'm still getting the error - here is a new log:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/472290/mb3%20logs/server-63555840000.txt

There are no errors for Scan media library failed or illegal characters in path in the last log provided.

Can't see error in this log --- server-63555840000.txt

Can only see error in first log --- server-63555667199.txt

before we go any further, let's cleanup the gamebrowser errors that are filling up the log. you have a really old version of GB, so update that.

am i looking in the wrong place? i dont use it right now so i'd rather uninstall it if it will make things run faster.
