I think I broke it - CoverArt for movies

Hi all,

My first post here, so be gentle ;)

I am trying out MB3 Server for the first time (I'm a Mediaportal user).

I have MB3 installed (with CoverArt plugin), and managing my Movies/TV shows/etc.

I had for some reason "store metadata in media folders" selected, which as you would expect generated a number of jpg/png/xml files.

I want to keep the metadata off the media drives, so I went ahead and deselected that option and then deleted all the jpg/png/xml files.

What I am now noticing, is that for the movies, the image isnt a downloaded cover, but the "primary" image is a screen grab from the actual movie.

How can I force/change the image to be downloaded cover?

Many thanks,

J.

To the best of my knowledge, CoverArt needs something to work with when applying treatments, and for MB the fallback is to extract an image from the file when none is available.

For your collections the images, to a certain degree are necessary and need o come from somewhere. MB has the option to not download metadata and images when you are acquiring them via some other method such as Media Center Master.

The metadata tools in MB are great and in my opinion you should turn it on and let it do its thing. It provides a much richer media experience.

Cheers

Hi there,

I have been into edit the the Movie properties...and refreshed the details.

But this still doesnt seem to have worked - unless I am being dumb (which is quite possible).

If I look at the movie details/images I have the following images:

Disc

Logo

Thumb

Banner

Primary

The "primary" image is the screen grab - which is the one that is shown.

Weird thing is that some of the movies are displaying the correct downloaded coverart!!??

Many thanks,

J.

Hi there,

Spot on.... If I delete the primary and refresh it works! :)

Is there a way to bulk perform this operation?? I have 100s and 100s and 100s of movies??

Thanks,

J.

Hi Luke,

I was hoping you werent going to say that!! lol

I take it there is no "behind the scenes" DB edit or file deletion?

Many thanks,

J.

If their name is "primary.xxx" just do a search for them, in windows explorer, and then delete them

you deleted the image that we downloaded, so it's not going to magically come back.

go to the edit page of the affected titles and click the refresh button.
