Hi guys.

First of all, thanks for the great work you are doing. Emby is a great media swerver and it's worth the money I spent for the premiere license.

Now the issue. Performing a search while typing is a great feature wth nice user experience but it may be problematic when you have a huge database.
I have more than 100,000 titles (plus actors, performers and all the other types of related entities) and the search is just too slow and  very annoying as, for every letter you type in the search box, it starts to search my huge database.

Is there any way to set the "type speed" or, better, simply disable the feature "search as you type" and let the server start the search only after you press 'ENTER'? It shouldn't too complex to implement.

If not, would you consider to add it in one of the next releases? As you may understand, the search feature is very important on a database of ten thousands of titles...

Thanks,
Gerry

I to would really like it if Emby did not start searching when I start typing. I do not like it when machines try and anticipate what I want. They should just wait for a confirming key or remote press.

But I also know I am very much in the minority wanting that but I thought I should support the first person I have seen with the guts to ask for a change in searching.

I do not often use search but when I do I just grit my teeth and deal with it.

Also interested in having the ability to disable search while typing.

Often times with a large library, the search results can timeout because it will auto-search a query for something like "the " before I can type the whole search phrase.

Typing too slow can cause multiple search queries to stack/queue on top of each other, causing the search to timeout without results.

Hi @Lukeis there any change/update with this? Alternatively, is there a way I can manually disable auto search by editing a file in dashboard-ui?
