Basically, can Emby use the genres, collections and tags that I create in Sonarr?

Thanks for any help!

Please ignore my original post, I don't know how to delete it.  😅

Under Metadata settings in sonarr/radarr you can enable the 'kodi/emby' nfo writer to write that data to an .nfo file.

In Emby, You can then enable the nfo reader under each libraries settings to import that data upon file discovery.

@darkassassin07. Awesome!  Thanks.

If there's no nfo file, then Emby will proceed as normal, right?

Yup,

Following the list of metadata fetchers you have enabled.

  • Do I have to activate Episode Metadata?  I assume this will create an NFO file for each episode.  I only need them for the series.
  • Does Emby need the Series Metadata URL?
  • Are the NFO files scanned with the rest of the files during the scheduled task?
  • Does scanning NFO files slow down the scan?  Not a deal breaker, I'm just curious.
  • If I change/update the Genres, Collections, or Tags for an episode, will Emby update the NFO file?
  • If Emby does update the NFO file, will that be reflected in Sonarr?

I'm going to give it a shot today.

@darkassassin07Thanks for the quick reply!

I just learned that Sonarr can only edit the Tags in the NFO file, not the Genres and Collections.  So, I'm giving tinymediamanager and try.  Do you know if tinymediamanager can add Collections to the NFO file?

Hi, yes you can add just about anything to a collection that you wish.
