Unable to Skip ahead or resume any media content

I have Emby Theater 11.556.0 installed on my Emby Server 4.8.6.0 server with Windows 11. Been using it to play all content without issue for quite sometime until now. Any movie or tv show I select, no matter the encoding of Video/Audio it will not allow fast forward or resume. Always just reverts to the beginning of the file and starts over. Even chapters will go back to start of file. After going through all possible options and testing codecs I removed the hevc video extensions that were installed from the Windows Store. Doing this then allowed the all the media to work as it should with resume and skip. Unfortunately without that the video is jerky when skipping forward and takes quite some time to finally play if selecting a specific spot or selecting a chapter. Seems to have trouble seeking without the extensions. Not sure if something changed in the recent version of Theater to cause this since all other remote devices (TVs, Android devices, ROKU, etc...) do not have any issue at all with playing, resuming or skipping forward. Only local content played on the server. Direct play works remote as well as transcoding. If I play the same media through the web login it will work as expected but I lose some of the options I like the theater for such as Atmos sound passthrough. Sorry for the long post I just wanted to try and get as much info in as possible to help answer any questions in hopes someone can help me with mine.

Sorry for the delayed response. Here are the logs, both ffmpeg and server, for a time period I was trying to play multiple movie files and not only having trouble with the move forward but also freezing after about 2 seconds. After testing a bit it seems to be related to the HEVC extensions from the MS Store and the Dolby Access install for Atmos. Odd thing is both have been installed for quite some time and never have I had any issues until recently. If I take them out and transcode to h264 it seems to play but I lose the Atmos and it does not resolve for all content.

I run the desktop app. I’m able to skip ahead in video (or back) once and then I’m unable to do it anymore. I have to move mouse so UI appear and then it works. Feels like focus is lost or something.

Hi, are you guys still seeing this? Can you try restarting the app and seeing if that resolves it? Thanks !

I have been busy this weekend and still need to do the testing with the desktop app. I will get to that after work tomorrow and let you know if I see any difference.

I have updated to the latest server today that was just released (v4.8.7.0) and also restarted the Theatre (Desktop version) app multiple times. Same issue still.

I tested with the desktop app but that acted a bit erratic. Played but would not pass through any atmos sound no matter the settings. Also lagged on audio output for up to 20 seconds when starting media. I decided to do a deep clean of the HEVC extensions and the Dolby Access off the system. Rebooted and slowly tested each setting one by one with specific media to gauge root cause while using different versions and moving up to the current releases. I have it working as it should now with the latest HEVC installed from MS Stoire and the Dolby Access setup to passthrough Atmos. No studders or restarts when moving forward or back. Using theater app from the MS Store not the desktop download. This works better for the way my theater macros work to call the app, lights, sound, etc. For now everything is back to the way it was before the issue started. Not sure if somehow the installed extensions and access just got screwed up with an update and the deep clean allowed a reset but that is what it seems. Will update if I find any more information that could potentially help others in the future.

From the looks of it I have mapped skip and rewind to FastForward and rewind. I haven't touched any of these settings in a long time.  On the weekend I will plug in the keyboard and see does skip FastForward rewind work with a keyboard.

I still have the same issue with fast forward and rewind, and I also have not touched my settings in a very long time. I would say in 3 years at least and then the changes had nothing to do with fast forward or skip ahead. I have reinstalled Emby Theater in hopes that could be the issue but it had no impact.

OK I see the issue with those buttons. Can you try restarting the app and seeing if that helps? Thanks.

Restarted multiple times. Same problem. How do I check if the Theater app is updated?

@TrunkYou can find your version by opening Emby Theater then click the icon in the upper right that has your profile pic. From there you should see the version number of Emby for Windows.

I think the UI code is updated beside the version of the App (since it is based on Electron).

This is exactly what is happening for me also when pressing the fast-forward or rewind buttons.  One press works fine but you have to wait for the OSD to disappear before you can press it a second time.  This is a pretty recent change as I've been skipping forward for a long time like this with no issue and no change to my setup.  Just recently started acting this way....
