next_level 2
Emby says direct play (no transcode) but the Beam sees it as PCM 2.0. The sound quality on Plex for this type of audio codec is obvious much better as it send it through correctly. Note this is on the same Apple TV box... it must be the Emby app as Plex app on same hardware has no problems at all sending it through as Dolby Digital Plus to Sonos Beam Gen 2. Happy2Play 8325
I will guess they are not using HLS. 21:02:09.207 Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy) 21:02:09.207 Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (dts (dca) -> ac3 (native)) 21:02:09.207 Stream #0:2 -> #1:0 (subrip (srt) -> webvtt (native)) 21:02:09.207 Stream #0:3 -> #2:0 (subrip (srt) -> webvtt (native))
next_level 2
That’s the weird part, there is no transcode (certainly in the web gui) of either video or audio. Plex looks the same in the web gui when it’s playing. The only difference is plex manages to get DTS-MA to DD+ to the Sonos Gen 2 and Emby can’t it’s just PCM 2.0. All my media is remuxes and I massively prefer Emby but the audio not playing properly is forcing me back to Plex which I dislike but plays the remux perfectly. i honestly think it must be an Emby Apple TV app bug?? Different terminology per Emby as everything is repackaged and only audio is converted per your example above. But UI should show audio convertion. 21:02:09.207 Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (dts (dca) -> ac3 (native)) Directplay can be as is bit if contain change becomes DirectStream ffmpeg-DirectStream - repackage copy video and audio ffmpeg-Remux - repackage copy video and convert audio ffmpeg-transcode - repackage convert video and either copy or convert audio
next_level 2
I can confirm works perfect with Infuse (thanks @arrbee9) So both Plex and Infuse have no issues with sending audio to Sonos via LG C2, it is clearly an issue with the Emby app. I just shelled out for Emby lifetime, I have a Plex lifetime I would rather not have to buy a Infuse Lifetime but if Emby app cannot behave the same way I guess I will have to.
arrbee99 1561
$13 a year sounds better though. And they've just done the Direct access to Emby thing as well... Not as good as an all in one solution, but still.
