I really don't know were it's coming from. It's doing that for only 5 or 6 shows recently added shows from sickbeard and movies added from couchpotato..

I've also noticed this weird acl thing added at the end of those videos files.

I never saw that + before when adding to my library is it media browser related?

I've removes the + but still that same permission denied problem occur. idk where to look anymore.

Besides that there are lots of unknown crashes idk this doesn't seem to be stable imo i really want to use this software but from the looks of it it's FAR from usable in a stable environment. Please prove me wrong.

Should i dedicate a whole machine to this install or what?. I'm running this from the same wm as couchpotato and sickbeard and i see some memory peak at around 75% of 4GB ram available for this client and the install is running on a ssd datastore. I asume I'll have less peak once the program have completed its caching etc but still i was wondering if it was possible to run this with less that 4GB ram.

why did you fuse my topic with this one?? It has nothing to do with his problem????

A few things to consider when troubleshooting this problem: on what is the media located (external HD, samba share, nfs share, etc.) and what user is MBS running as?  The ACL thing can be caused by having the media on an external HD and if the media is located on a samba share, the permissions will get very tricky if the users on the two machines are not exactly the same with the same user number in /etc/passwd.

I would suggest looking at what the Arch wiki has in regards to permissions for you particular setup.  While you may not be running Arch, everything in the wiki that doesn't relate to package specific things should work on Ubuntu also.

Thanks for your response it is very apreciated. I wouldn't want to hijack this guys topic thats why i've started a new thread for this and try to figure out what's causing this.

As for the samba share. All physical disk are mounted locally on that machine since it's the same as my samba share.

Here's my fstab:

#===================== Mounts for  samba share===============================

UUID=531b311c-4657-446b-b0b5-30a51ea59d05   /samba/anonymous/user          ext4  defaults 0 0

UUID=ed280d98-71ca-48d0-a1d1-252908e0852f   /samba/anonymous/library       ext4  defaults 0 0

The mounts have a nobody:nogroup ownership with a 777 permission. Mediabrowser was setup initaly to run with its default user (mediabrowser) while sickbeard and couchpotato are running as the same user (dferron).

I've chmoded the folders in question but i still can't play the content that i had trouble with.

All other users from those other pc can read/write on that samba share without any problems and the ACL flag only shows locally which confuse me a great deal. Locally there should be no problem to write in those locations since it's his own fs with correct permissions and so on.

  • 2 months later...

I have almost the same issue after fresh installing from the repo. I'v running Zentyal 4.0 DC with Ubunut 14.04 and installed Mediabrowser on this machine. It is also my 24/7 machine and contains my SQL database for XBMC, is my Samba Server, and anything i want to. Anyway due to some weird permissions of Mediabrowser i can't access to the NFS, SMB and any shares. Please be aware due to Zentyal permissions are controled with ACL on my server. So i have added the user "mediabrowser" to my group "mediacenter" wich has ACL permissions on Media Shares mounted in my Server. To be sure i also added the use "mediabrowser" to my music share for example with setfacl. But i see just folders on mediabrowser. For exampel /mnt/secure <= Stop. My media is /mnt/secure/Music, /mnt/secure/Photos but i cant go to it. "Folder does not exists"

In addition i can't access via //192.168.10.1/Folder to my other Fileserver with Sambashares. Seems Mediabrowser is not designed to run at Linux Environment.

Please if you can help me i would give a chance to Mediabrowser to get it running because the features seems to be nice.
