Make /users/ list(s) searchable

Hi everybody,

I would love to have the users list searchable, like with a simple list filter.

When using computers, CTRL+F does (most of) the job, but in the app this is not a option - or a painful to use in the mobile browser (which by itself is not a emby issue, obviously). Having the user list sortable (for example, last logon time) would be a perfect bonus for me. Currently, the "List" view doesn't even show anything but the username (which is a bit irritating, at least).

I have something like this in mind: https://imgur.com/a/5Trbmtq

When managing userbases from medium size up, this would be massive improvement. In my case, a filter ("search") could potentially save me hours of list-scrolling a month 🙂

Hi.  How many Emby users do you have?

A few thousands on that instance, some hundreds on another and around 200 on another one. Depends.

What are you using the system for?  Is it in a corporate environment?

For (small) audio/video files. Emby works great for managing personal media collections.

No, none of the instances I know of (and have access to). It's mostly stuff like small animations and makerporn (3d printers printing stuff). But with more fans.

What does this have to do with the "searchable List" feature request? A simple search would make the life easier - even for like 10 Users.

I regularly use a instance with usersnames like:

Xi Wang ili
Xi Wang il1
Xi Wang il|
Xi Wang ill
Xi Wang iII

In such cases it's a absolute nightmare to pinpoint specific users down only by scrolling.

Thousands is not personal use.

But page is sort of searchable just like most other pages as it will jump to a letter on key press.

Ok, if you say so. To settle on this: How many user are personal use, then? I could not find anything about any number of users in the docs.

And: The filter-problem is therefor even 5 users 🙂

Yes, it jumps somewhere. This helps a tiny but, but is in no way a solution.

Also, it is unusable on mobile (and tablets) and almost unusable on pc's, because you still have to read through a very long list of users. Does not solve the case with more or less identical names, too.

A simple list-filter would be great.

CTRL + F is terrible with emby. It's it's not visible, find won't work.
I haven't looked in to the technical "why", but this has gotten worse over time.

Devs can comment as a userbase like that is not for personal use ie 6000+ per your image.  But no Emby does not have a user limit.

Haven't testing in a while as it use to limited and only show 50 users.  But they may have actually added virtualscrolling there.

Don't really see a need for search for 5 users as they are all on screen unless you are talking about mobile.
