4K streaming still choppy(also after updating to 4.8.0.80)

i have a 4K HEVC file which streams directly from the synology to the appleTV (setting 4K HDR, 4K SDR does not help)

somehow playback is still choppy.

appletv is hard wired

when i stream the same file with 8player pro over dlna everything is smooth.

what could be the problem?

did some more testing

when i use 8player pro with emby dlnaserver as a source everything is smooth as well

so it looks like the emby client on the appletv is the cullprit.

the appletv app seems to use dlna(looking at the log) as underlying platform but somehow this gets choppy.

today i installed emby client on my samsung tizen tv(55S90C)

this tv has a 100Mbit connection

4K 15Mbit HEVC movie is playing without problems, very smooth.

also the gui,thumbnails icons etc are very consistent and all the same size instead of the mess i see in appleTV

i think the appleTV app needs a major overhaul

The cpu and hardware inside the appletv 4k are way better than trhe samsung tv but still the quality is worse.

with most apps the appletv version is superior because it is a better platform and will last a lot longer then the tizen app(every new tv needs another version)

with emby app it is the other way around. maybee because it is a standard app for all the appletv platfoems and does not take advantage of the appletv 4K hardware

i can send pictures if you like with a complete comparison if you like
