Hi,

On my Android and Amazon devices, certain x265 video files will stutter with direct play. (If the server transcodes the same file, it plays back normally).  In the log, Notting Hill is the movie with the issue.

Versions:

Galaxy S21+ 5G SM-G996U, Android 14

Emby server 4.7.0.14

Emby Android 3.3.56

embyandroid.txt embyserver.txt hardware_detection-63840176297.txt

Notting.Hill.1999.1080p.BluRay.x265.mp4.txt

Sorry I am unable to sideload on this device.

BTW, I forgot to mention that this is not a new issue.  I noticed a problem with this video since at least July 2023.  Ive tested this video with all android releases on this phone since then and they all have the same issue.  I didn't report the issue previously because android logs weren't accessible, until recently.  Thanks for adding that feature!

So this is only on certain files? Is there anything these files have in common?

Yes, certain files but there are quite a few.  I cannot see anything that these files have in common other than they are x265 videos.  However, they look just like any other x265 video files I have that play fine.

In the log

How did you get the log out of the Emby app and off of your device?

Yes, I attached 2 different logs in the posts above.

I asked how did you get them?  After you generated them, how did you get them to this forum?

Doh, sorry about that.  In the emby mobile app, i click on the 3 dots on the right of the log file.  Then clicked "share" and selected Gmail.  Next, I just emailed it to myself.  Finally, I used my computer to put it into a text file.

That process doesn't work on the Shield  😥

It’s different. There’s a context menu. If you have a messaging app or email you can still send it to yourself.

We should add a way to send it to your Emby server though.

Sending to the server would be a great idea

I've not tried to email it but I'll see if I can install Gmail on my tv and get it to work that way

If there is not a common, practical, or built-in way to send logs from this super-duper standard app on the Shield, then you shouldn't ask people to do this.  I'd say sending logs to the server (or to Emby) is high priority for this app if you expect users to try it for your debugging purposes.  It's enough hassle as it is just install and test.
