ginjaninja 537
Would understanding the difference help more reliable media selection. Alexa [reports it] hears "Play Album The Hateful Eight by Ennio Morricone" Alexa Searches 2024-01-08 11:44:50.184 Debug Server: http/1.1 Response 200 to 54.84.26.96. Time: 77ms. https://XXX.XXX.XXX:8920/emby/Users/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/Items?SortBy=Album%2CParentIndexNumber%2CIndexNumber&IncludeItemTypes=Audio&Recursive=true&Artists=Ennio%20Morricone&Albums=the%20hateful%208 Why would emby search for '8' when alexa says it heard (if the report is to be read at face value) 'eight'? Is it possible that if there are enough music related words in the command then Alexa is better at deciding when "ate" is heard as 'eight' or '8'..im starting to think that Alexa is quite good at knowing these things...but in any case perhaps emby needs some cleverness to [know when to] try variations and choose best. Luke 37095
Hi, I'm guessing the alexa api gave us the 8.

Hi @Lukein that case the alexa command history in the mobile app can't be trusted to see what was sent to Emby. Also Emby cant 'trust' numbers sent by Alexa. from a rough test Alexa seems to generally search Emby using numerical numbers rather than string representations of numbers. Spaces between numbers can be dropped by Alexa (always if numbers can be interpreted as a 4 digit year or individual consecutive single digit numbers in a list afaict). "play song one by U2" /Items?SortBy=Album%2CParentIndexNumber%2CIndexNumber&IncludeItemTypes=Audio&Recursive=true&Artists=U2&SearchTerm=1 "no media found" Spoiler "play song oh en ee by U2" works but 'en' is often heard 'em' in english. not a simple issue to workaround....Do you think this is enough of a problem thats worth improving? Maybe reference to the musicbrainz database of song titles against, artist, album artist, and album with numbers in name could help Alexa searching/matching. and/or maybe Emby Search could be extended to always turns number search terms into "number|string representation of number [|with or without spaces?]" in such a way that made alexa searches promiscuously to find results when numbers are involved. Luke 37095
Yea not sure at the moment. It’s not that simple.
