Emby Connect Issue - Web Browser Only - Unable to Connect

Hi,

I have 2 x Linux based Emby servers, pretty much an identical setup and I've accessed them from numerous devices including a personal laptop of mine and my home / work PC. For some strange reason the access to the servers via the app.emby.media site is inaccessible now, it happened out of nowhere and no changes have been made to my servers. The message I get now is the following...

"We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again."

I have this same error on 2 x Linux based servers, I've checked forums it mentions about firewall or ports which hasn't been changed in over 2 years running these servers. At present I have to access the servers in web browser using the WAN IP with port 8096 and using my local login instead of my Emby Connect. This same method using on my android phone where I login with connect fine, see my two servers and they are accessible, it seems to be only via Web Browser on PC.

My PC has had no change to Firewall / Anti-virus and I've tested this on about 5 other PC / Laptop devices with no success. What is strange is one of my other laptops I haven't used in a while still works via the app.emby.media site but I have a feeling at some point this will lose access via this method too.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to what the issue with this is. Obviously the servers are running and are accessible using the Emby connect on an Android / iOS app with Emby connect but no matter what PC / Web Browser I use I cannot gain access to my servers via the app.emby.connect. Maybe is it something I can check on the 2 x servers or is there anything I can try on my PC / Laptop I can change?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have SSL setup on your server? Your browser is likely force redirecting you to https://app.emby.media, try using http://app.emby.media (drop the "s" from "https"). Check that that address is actually shown in your address bar (http, not https and you have no lock icon).

Have a read here also:

Hi Mate,

Absolute quality, this is exactly what it was it was using https://app.emby.media and it wasn't redirecting us to the servers so I can only assume we don't have SSL setup on the server. Unsure on how to do this and don't want the SSL causing issues with other devices so I can use http instead and I will drop the 's'.

For info, how do I go about checking about this SSL on the server so that I can use the secure https link without any issues?

Emby Server network settings. If you setup an SSL certificate in Emby Server you'd probably know that you did.
