JuJuJurassic 42 Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 I've worked in IT support so when someone says "nothing's changed" you know it has, but the troubleshooting just got harder, well... My LG TV Emby App has started hanging, it used to work brilliantly, if a bit quiet. The app starts, it brings up the emby screen, with the libraries, and then just hangs. I can press buttons on the remote, and after a long pause, it will perform the button's action. I can't play anything though. I can't get that far on, but the problem is ....Nothing's changed  I don't know if there's been a TV os update, but the TV is running 05.30.40, I checked for updates, and there are non for the TV's os I've removed and re-installed The Emby App, it's version 1.0.39. It was working perfectly. It's connected via ethernet to the emby server, although I have also tried it wirelessly. I also have a firestick with emby on, connected wirelessly, plugged into the TV. That works fine. However some of the large 4K films only play on the TV, as the firestick can't handle the size / bandwidth of them, but the TV did. Any suggestions? Thanks   embyserver (3).txt

marriedman 48 Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 I logged in tonight to check in and see if anyone else was having this issue. I see a few people were having similar symptoms. This thread caught my attention because I actually use the statistics and Bulky plugins. I just uninstalled them and rebooted the server. Made it through a sitcom episode with no freeze. Just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else has this issue.
marriedman 48 Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Darn it, I spoke too soon. Two episodes later and video is hanging randomly. I don't know if it is a temp folder getting filled or what. I just rebooted and enabled debug logging.
JuJuJurassic 42 Posted December 20, 2023 Author Posted December 20, 2023 Thanks for the suggestion. I removed the plugins as asked. rebooted the emby server from the dashboard, then decided to reboot the server totally, which I did. Unfortunately, the problem is still there. So I took on board the comment from MarriedMan, reset the TV to factory defaults, then installed the Emby App, unfortunatley it is still hanging/running very very slow. It's running very slow, as if it were paging memory, I know it's not, but it looks similar. I checked my disk space root@emby:/var/lib/emby/plugins# df -h Filesystem             Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev                 16G   0  16G  0% /dev tmpfs                3.2G  3.6M  3.2G  1% /run /dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-ubuntu--lv  915G  66G  810G  8% / tmpfs                16G   0  16G  0% /dev/shm tmpfs                5.0M  4.0K  5.0M  1% /run/lock tmpfs                16G   0  16G  0% /sys/fs/cgroup /dev/sda1              1.8T  603G  1.2T  35% /data/ssd /dev/sdb1              3.6T  2.7T  783G  78% /data/music /dev/nvme0n1p2           974M  524M  383M  58% /boot /dev/nvme0n1p1           511M  6.1M  505M  2% /boot/efi /dev/loop1              45M  45M   0 100% /snap/certbot/3462 /dev/loop2              45M  45M   0 100% /snap/certbot/3566 /dev/loop3              92M  92M   0 100% /snap/lxd/23991 /dev/loop0             9.7M  9.7M   0 100% /snap/canonical-livepatch/246 /dev/loop4             9.9M  9.9M   0 100% /snap/canonical-livepatch/248 /dev/loop5              74M  74M   0 100% /snap/core22/864 /dev/loop6             106M  106M   0 100% /snap/core/16202 /dev/loop8              41M  41M   0 100% /snap/snapd/20092 /dev/loop9              41M  41M   0 100% /snap/snapd/20290 /dev/loop7              92M  92M   0 100% /snap/lxd/24061 /dev/loop10             64M  64M   0 100% /snap/core20/2105 /dev/loop11             64M  64M   0 100% /snap/core20/2015 /dev/loop12             56M  56M   0 100% /snap/core18/2812 /dev/loop13             106M  106M   0 100% /snap/core/16091 /dev/loop14             75M  75M   0 100% /snap/core22/1033 /dev/loop15             56M  56M   0 100% /snap/core18/2796 //10.5.1.1/pictures         43T  34T  9.1T  79% /mnt/pictures //10.5.1.1/films           43T  34T  9.1T  79% /mnt/films //10.5.1.1/GoPro           43T  34T  9.1T  79% /mnt/GoPro //10.4.1.1/tvshows          39T  35T  3.4T  92% /mnt/tvshows //10.4.1.1/tvshows/embybackup    39T  35T  3.4T  92% /mnt/embybackup tmpfs                3.2G  16K  3.2G  1% /run/user/1000 I also ran top to see the CPU utilisation, it's hardly being used top - 10:39:34 up 43 min,  2 users,  load average: 0.01, 0.07, 0.08 Tasks: 374 total,  1 running, 373 sleeping,  0 stopped,  0 zombie %Cpu(s):  0.1 us,  0.0 sy,  0.0 ni, 99.9 id,  0.0 wa,  0.0 hi,  0.0 si,  0.0 st MiB Mem :  32025.1 total,  26542.4 free,  2091.6 used,  3391.1 buff/cache MiB Swap:  8192.0 total,  8192.0 free,    0.0 used.  29447.6 avail Mem   PID USER    PR  NI   VIRT   RES   SHR S  %CPU  %MEM   TIME+ COMMAND   3893 emby    20  0 6799976 734616  81892 S  1.3  2.2  1:44.13 EmbyServer   1848 root    20  0    0    0    0 S  0.3  0.0  0:00.44 nv_queue    1 root    20  0  170548  14096  8376 S  0.0  0.0  0:01.29 systemd    2 root    20  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 kthreadd    3 root    0 -20    0    0    0 I  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 rcu_gp    4 root    0 -20    0    0    0 I  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 rcu_par_gp    6 root    0 -20    0    0    0 I  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 kworker/0:0H-kblockd    8 root    0 -20    0    0    0 I  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 mm_percpu_wq    9 root    20  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 ksoftirqd/0    10 root    20  0    0    0    0 I  0.0  0.0  0:03.25 rcu_sched    11 root    rt  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.01 migration/0    12 root   -51  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 idle_inject/0    14 root    20  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 cpuhp/0    15 root    20  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 cpuhp/1    16 root   -51  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 idle_inject/1    17 root    rt  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.16 migration/1    18 root    20  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 ksoftirqd/1    20 root    0 -20    0    0    0 I  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 kworker/1:0H-kblockd    21 root    20  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 cpuhp/2    22 root   -51  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 idle_inject/2    23 root    rt  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.16 migration/2    24 root    20  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 ksoftirqd/2    26 root    0 -20    0    0    0 I  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 kworker/2:0H-kblockd    27 root    20  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 cpuhp/3    28 root   -51  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 idle_inject/3    29 root    rt  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.16 migration/3    30 root    20  0    0    0    0 S  0.0  0.0  0:00.00 ksoftirqd/3  I do think you're right about the plug in's I recently added bulky and Genre cleaner I've done a lot of tagging of Movies with a new Genre "Christmas" Bith plugins are no longer there, but as marriedman says have they filled up a temporary folder? It is acting just like a disk full and paging system. Fortunately, the problem seems restricted to just the TV's client. But what's weird is we have another TV using the client and it's fine. Is there a folder per instance of the TV client? Is there a folder I can clean out? Thanks for your help, 6 days before Christmas and the pressure is on me, worst of all.....from my wife. Â
Luke 39351 Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Are you able to browse around using the web interface on the server? How does that compare?
JuJuJurassic 42 Posted December 20, 2023 Author Posted December 20, 2023 I’m not sure I understand. I can use Firefox & chrome on the physical Emby server to access content on the Emby server. 127.0.0.1 There’s a sound card in the Emby server, connected to my hifi. That all works fine.
Luke 39351 Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Are you still having an issue in the Emby LG app?

JuJuJurassic 42 Posted December 30, 2023 Author Posted December 30, 2023 Hi Luke, I've attached a log file . I've been doing a bit of testing. The menu seems to be to problem. Once I've selected a video file it plays it ok, but the response time from pressing a button is about 10 seconds. If you have a look at the beginning and 12:27 that's when I was moving through the menus. You'll also see from the log it played on. On resuming for a fraction of a second it showed the start of the tv show / movie, but then jumped to the correct place. It used to work fine, with no lag in the menu's. I noticed an error pointing to /data/music/cover.png, so I've edited the music library images to remove the image. Thanks for looking at it embyserver (4).txt
JuJuJurassic 42 Posted December 30, 2023 Author Posted December 30, 2023 I enabled debug logging, then played around with the LG TV's emby client. it was still laggy, but not as much. The tv had been on but not used. I've attached the debut-enabled log. I hope there's more useful info in it. Thanks  embyserver (5).txt

JuJuJurassic 42 Posted January 9, 2024 Author Posted January 9, 2024 This is weird, it's started behaving, but I haven't changed anything. Have any of the plugins been updated that could explain this? Thanks
