Did adding a user to Emby Connect change?

I used to be able to add users to Emby Connect using their Emby user name in the field

(Optional) Emby Connect email address:

 I tried to do that tonight (user name).  When I put the user name there I get

The link in that error message tells me nothing relevant, it's just the signup page to get an account.

Do I really need to get that persons email address and can't use the user name any more?

I'm using Windows server version 4.7.14.0.

Yes, and it has been like that for some time now, I'd say a year or two at least. Optional Connect field also states "e-mail address" only.

Hi, yes this was changed to email only.

There are many reasons behind this, one of which being to help people understand that Emby Connect is a separate service. Previously many users didn't know what this meant. They would just type in "Bill" to add their friend Bill, and then the invitation would end up going to whomever has the username Bill on our Emby Connect server.

So now, force them to enter an email, problem solved.
