Tasks - Do they stop PC Sleeping?

Hi All.

Installed both Server & Classic on my PC yesterday.

 

We watched a bit of tv using MB CLassic via WMC, then turned off the system with the Harmony Remote as usual.

 

Amongst other things, this should send the PC to sleep. However yesterday it failed to go into sleep.

 

The only changes made were the above installation.

 

I'm back at work at the mo, so can't post more info, but i'm wondering if the "Tasks"  would stop it sleeping, or do they only run if the PC is actually on?

Do you have the MC Standby tool installed?  If not, you should google it and install it.  It will allow you to go in and out of standby in WMC much better as it does not like being put to sleep at all.

To be honest, I've used it in the past, but this PC hasn't had any problems going into sleep at all.

 

I'll try trial and error first before installing yet another thing i have to configure,,Cheers

try this command in a command prompt:

 

powercfg /requests

 

You might be able to decipher what's preventing your pc from going to sleep from the output.

Scheduled tasks do not prevent the system from sleeping.
