I have a No-ip address... My router has the 8096 port forwarded. I have the ssl disabled in network settings. I can reach the server from http://***.***.***.***:8096   port checker on IP shows port 8096 open  however is I connect to http://myserver.myaddress.com with or without the :8096 it does not connect and port checker says port is closed.  so web address works for browser but cannot get emby apps to connect with address.

on web browser it works perfect... i can go to mysite.noipaddress.com  and it work... but in any emby app (android, IOS, windows store) it wont connect through the webaddress. but will through IP. I need it to work with webaddress

Hi, default http ports are 80 (in general, not emby specific), therefore with 8096 you will always need to specify the port number.

What Emby app are you trying to connect with?

Any of them. Android, IOS, Roku Tv app.... on any browser I can go to http://mysite.com  as i have the site redirect with the port and it auto updates if my ip changes... However i cannot get any of the apps to connect at all. except once... I can connect my windows emby theatre app however none of the profiles work. It says wrong password evenwith new account with no password.   so something is wrong. I'm missing something

ok I figured this out!!!!

in Network Settings change public port to 8080 and leave local port at 8096.
then setup hostname as DNS name instead of web redirect or hostname service.
on any browser mediaserver.no-ip.com  works for the server no need for ports
on apps enter host mediaserver.no-ip.com  in port enter 8080
connect and sign in.   Simple and it works.
