No audio on LG OLED CX for DTS

I am running 1.0.39 on my LG C1 and emby does not transcode DTS or DTS HD tracks, resulting in a lot of silent movies or wrong tracks being selected by the TV.

From reading through the forum I get the impression that this issue was once fixed but has now resurfaced? I normally use my NVidia shield which can pass through DTS just fine, so I never noticed this before.

So I only experience this problem with the LG WebOS app. App and WebOS both are on the latest version. I have my TV connected to my Denon AVR via HDMI ARC (not eARC).

When I play a movie that only has a DTS or DTS-HD soundtrack, I have no sound. When I play a movie that has multiple soundtracks and there is at least one format supported by the LG TV, it plays that soundtrack and will keep playing it, even if I manually select the DTS soundtrack and even tho emby shows the DTS track as selected. The app does not seem to know that the TV is still using the other soundtrack. I would expect emby to realize that the TV cannot play DTS and transcode the audio. I also noticed that the playback session is not displayed in the server dashbard.

Not sure if this is relevant, but there seems to be a 404 error on the capabilities check:

2023-09-18 08:01:27.469 Debug Server: http/1.1 Response 404 to host2. Time: 4ms. http://host1/emby/Sessions/Capabilities/Full?X-Emby-Client=Emby for LG&X-Emby-Device-Name=LG Smart TV (OLED55C16LA)&X-Emby-Device-Id=5dca8842-e402-41d0-8323-0117691c554d&X-Emby-Client-Version=1.0.39&X-Emby-Language=de&reqformat=json

The full debug log is attached.

Thank you!

No I haven't restricted access to transcoding. It transcodes just fine if I play it in the web client using Firefox. This is happening with all my DTS tracks, as far as I can tell.

To me this seems very much like the problem discussed in this old thread, hence my initial comment that I believe this had been fixed in the past:

@Lukewhy would we not be seeing the device profile in the server log?  It's like it is working with an empty profile and is just direct playing anything.

Could it have anything to do with the 404 responses? I don't see those when I play something on my Nvidia Shield. Also the session shows up in the server dashboard when I use the shield or the web client but not with the LG app.

Now I managed to confuse myself completely. I just tested it on a friend's LG CS and for him it works fine. On my LG C1 it doesn't. No idea whats wrong...

SOLVED!

Apparently my LG C1 cannot handle 301 redirects correctly. I have emby running behind a reverse proxy that redirects http requests to https. This works fine for everything else but semmingly not for my TV. After I changed the "secure connection mode" setting in emby's network settings from "Disabled" to "Handled by reverse proxy" it started working. Sorry I didn't spot this earlier.

Thanks for your support!
