Hello,
I have a Synology DS415play running DSM 7.1.1-42962 with afaik the newest emby srv available.
I have a movies folder with ~500 movies, a lot of old ones from 2012 / 2013.
Sadly Emby doesn't recognize most of the old movies, because the movie name is "encoded" into the the folder name.
Here are some examples
/volume1/Filme/12.Years.a.Slave.2013.BDRip.AC3.German.XviD-POE/poe-12yas-xvid.avi
/volume1/Filme/Die.Buecherdiebin.2013.BDRip.AC3.German.XviD-POE/poe-buecherdiebin-xvid.avi
Is there a setting that enables name extraction from the folder, as fallback?

Hi Luke,
When a movie isn't recognized the metadata is missing.
Emby shows no cover and not title.
Just a screenshot of the movie and the filename.

HI, try right clicking on one of them and using the Identify feature. Please let us know if that helps bring in metadata. Thanks.

The identify feature only works if I enter the title manually.
If I leave the fields empty, the search result is empty.
I tested pasting the foldername into the title field, worked for 3 movies.
But I don't want to do this manually for >100 movies

Hi, what do you mean by leave the fields empty? You have to at least enter something, right?

The identification works with the identifiy feature. But I dont want to that manually  with hundreds of movies.

If your willing to change the naming of your folders/files FileBot may be able to make this quick and easy for you. I created the directory and dummy files as you listed, then dragged them into FileBot and got the results bellow (my setting are all english). You can change the format used and even have it add the ID’s to help emby identify them. If these movies shown bellow are correct then FileBot may work for well you.

What version of the server are you on? What version of the server did you first import them with?

I'm running Emby 4.7.11.0.
I'm using it for about 2 years. Not sure which version was installed on my NAS 2 years ago.

Hi Luke,
I installed 4.8.0.60 beta and the identification seems to work better.
Eycept for about 50 movies.
Here are some of the paths where recognition doesn't work

/Anchorman.2.Die.Legende.kehrt.zurueck.2013.BDRip.RETAiL.AC3.Dubbed.German.XviD-POE/poe-anchorman2-xvid.avi
/Birdman.2014.BDRip.AC3.German.XviD-POE/poe-birdman-xvid.avi
/Bad.Neighbors.2014.BDRip.AC3.German.XviD-POE/poe-bn-xvid.avi
/Die.Buecherdiebin.2013.BDRip.AC3.German.XviD-POE/poe-buecherdiebin-xvid.avi
/Die.grosse.Versuchung.Luegen.bis.der.Arzt.kommt.2013.BDRip.Line.Dubbed.German.XviD-POE/poe-dgvlbdak-xvid.avi
/Lethal.Punisher.Kill.or.be.Killed.2014.BDRip.AC3.German.XviD-POE/poe-lp-xvid.avi
/The.Raid.2.2014.BDRip.Line.Dubbed.German.XviD-POE/poe-raid2-xvid.avi
/Sin.City.2.A.Dame.to.Kill.For.2014.WEB.Line.Dubbed.German.XviD-POE/poe-sc2-xvid.avi
/Big.Fat.Important.Movie.German.2008.DVDRiP.XviD-XF/xf-important.avi

It would be helpful if you name your files correctly instead of leaving them the file name they were given when posted to whichever site you downloaded them from.

@TMCsw you should have mentioned that fileBot is a paid program.

These are working for me except for anchorman. But this one:

/Die.grosse.Versuchung.Luegen.bis.der.Arzt.kommt.2013.BDRip.Line.Dubbed.German.XviD-POE/poe-dgvlbdak-xvid.avi

It needs to be 2014: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/209185-the-grand-seduction
