Issue with movie extras

Hi,

 

I'm not sure if this is an Emby issue or a Synology issue. I'm using Emby 4.7.13.0 on Synology DS416j with DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 5. I have library folders on my NAS but I would like to scan some shared folders on my PC too because I ran out of space on my NAS.

I would like to scan movies into my library with featurettes. I followed the naming guidelines. For example: a folder named "WarGames (1983)" with the movie file and a subfolder named "Featurettes" with the movie extra files.

If I move this folder into my Movie folder on the NAS, everything's fine, Emby recognizes my files correctly. If I move this folder into my network shared folder on my PC, Emby thinks the movie extras are separate movies and doesn't associates them with the movie. NFO files are created in the folder but with zero byte size. The folder is shared in my network for everybody with read and write permissions.

Of course.

This is the network shared folder on my PC with some test files. Emby creates zero byte NFO files here. If I move these folders to my movie folder on the NAS, there's no issue.

I had the same issue. It is unique to Synology.

it occurs when you point Emby directly to a shared folder, not on the synology.

The solution was to mount the remote folder on the synology. 

see this link Synology KB

make sure you tick the box to mount at startup, and point the Emby library to the mount on the local synology drive.

Thank you so much, I managed to scan my library with this solution.

"Remote CIFS shared folder" was needed for my Windows folders.
