Whenever I start/resume a video on IOS WebApp it hangs, showing a blank screen with whirling blue wait icon and will not start to play until I tap the screen (then the controls come up) and I press play or fwd, it then continues to play perfectly. A 2nd maybe related problem is occasionally the video just stops playing and the whole interface becomes unresponsive.

  • Server is on a qnap h1290fx in a docker container
  • Client is emby web app running on IOS
  • Happens on IPAD IOS and IPAD Pro IOS.
  • Happens with Chrome, Safari, Firefox
  • Happens with all videos - mp4, mkv, xvi
  • Happens with encoding or directplay
  • Does not happen with Web app running on windows
  • Does not happen with IOS Emby client
  • Does not happy with Sony TV Andriod app
  • Emby server dashboard shows the video in the now playing sections and if these is transcoding happing is shows is  as transcoding with FPS updating
  • I used to have Emby server running on a windows 10 box and I don't remember this happening.

I would love some guidance to get to the bottom of the problem.

I have attached logs. There will be various instances of various moves playing as I try out the different clients and combinations.

Hi, it’s due to the browser auto play policy that you end up having to click play twice to start.
