HDR/Dolby Vision not activating on TV when playing HDR File - Apple TV

I've recently bought an Apple TV 4k 2022 and installed Emby on it.

I can't seem to get HDR playback to activate on the TV to work... All other apps seem to work fine - like Netflix, Disney+ Plex etc and the TV seems to activate DV and HDR just fine.

The files I'm playing are definitely DV and Emby on my Nvidia shield does plays it fine too.

In terms of Emby settings I have put video playback to 160mpbs as that is the max and I would assume this would stop transcoding.

Apple TV settings: I have set to Match dynamic content.

Can anyone shed some light on why Emby is not activating HDR on my TV?

Version of Emby is 1.7.3 (2)

1) Using MPV player HDR passthrough is not supported.

2) Using Native player HDR passthrough is only supported in direct play, so you need mp4 container because native player does not support MKV direct play.

as framerate switching now seems to work with mpv, I'm wondering whether native hdr playback is on the horizon, too?

Sorry to barge in.

Does that mean that Infuse is still the only viable option to play HDR/DV MKVs?

Hello

I too have just bought and setup an Apple TV 4K
(Previously I had an Fire Stick 4K)

Is there a guide on how to setup the device correctly for HDR content?

Many Thanks
Stephen

Yes, go back to using a Firestick, or buy Infuse and use the Emby plugin.

Actually infuse is better on my iPad, too...I am going to use infuse on all my apple devices from now on.

Was there any update on this regarding MPV supporting HDR or DV. I just tried today and my TV is not switching to DV or HDR. I really like the UX of the Emby app but if I have to use infuse for HDR and DV passthrough then I will
