mrmech 2
For compilations, I only use the Album Artist field for my favorite artists. So, I have a lot of compilations where the the Album field matches for every track on the record but the Album Artist field is empty. I read that Emby will group the tracks for a compilation into a single record as long as the Album fields match and Album Artist fields match; I assumed that applies to empty Album Artist fields as well, but it doesn't. Is there anyway to get my compilations to group properly with an empty Album Artist field? Thanks for any help.

Solution Luke 37254 Posted June 16, 2023 Solution Share Posted June 16, 2023 Hi, there needs to be an album artist. If you really don't want to tag your files, then in your music library options you can set the music folder structure to perfectly organized into artist/album folders. Then the folder name from two levels up will be used as the album artist. However, don't set the folder structure option unless your files actually match that, or you'll run into other problems. pwhodges 1539
In that situation I just put "Various Artists". An empty artist name gives no place in the artist/album structure for the album to be placed. Paul

Sorry I didn't mention it in the original post.

Do you know if there are any plans to change this in the future? Meaning a feature that would group tracks into a record if they're in the same folder and have the same Album tag. Emby has a lot of features that I like, so it's not a deal-breaker for me.

We already have that using the procedure I outlined above.
