Remote family member purchased a new Samsung TV to replace an aging one. installed latest available emby app from store and now live tv fails on multiple channels. previous tv and version did not have these issues. as well as other devices in and out of network. issue appears to be exclusive to this TV and its emby app only

Had them test channels that fail and that work.

using latest Emby beta and app Emby for Samsung 1.4.8

clean logs attached.

@Luke, why would this be in the logs?

That’s just coming from his live TV setup.

From what I can see, the app tried to DirectPlay but was unable to play (this is triggered by the Samsung player used in the Emby app).

The server then tries to DirectStream the file but it appears that it can't do it quickly enough (speed value is < 1.0x)

I can't say that the speed issue is the only problem, but it's probably enough to cause it to fail.

any solution to this?  correctly the problem is singled out to this one device.. the previous Samsung model on same network has zero issues. and again it only happening on some channels. But not others,

thanks

Hi, if you enable the dlna server in emby server dlna settings, then use the Samsung dlna browser, are you able to play those same channels that way?

If you make a short recording of this channel on the server (10 minutes) , what happens if you try and play the completed recording on the TV?

The "playback error" issue is singled out to this new Samsung tv. previous Samsung in same household does not have any issues with any live channels, and it's not just one channel. its appears very random/selective but always the same channels if you follow. I take it the various logs showing working and none working channels didn't give much insight on the root cause? I only use emby for Live TV. No other media. most plugins are uninstalled including DLNA. Emby Server it not on same network as device with issue.

Thanks.

Every year Samsung make changes to the firmware and what works correctly one year isn't guaranteed for the next.  We have seen this numerous times.  Unfortunately for DirectPlay issues there is generally not much we can do as we don't do anything to the media stream other than pass it to the TV's built-in player.

Did you do this test as it might give us more useful information about what the real problem is?
