Server: 4.7.11.0, synology NAS DSM 6.2.4

Client : kodi 19.5, add-on Emby for Kodi Next Gen 7.13.7

For a .mkv file with embedded subtitles:

1. The server keeps extracting embedded subtitles(ass) before streaming when using kodi. I have to wait 10~100 seconds before it start playing. ass files generated in "cache/subtitles".

2.  turn off hardware acceleration and "allow subtitle extraction on the fly" option, reboot emby server, play another .mkv file with embedded subtitles, the same thing happen.

3. extracting does NOT happen when using emby theater or streaming potplayer.

looks like the server thinks kodi cannot handle the embedded subtitles, which is not - kodi can support these subtitles.  Point 2 makes it looks even stranger. Is the client add-on more powerful than the server?

Problem temporarily solved by rudely disabling the write access to "cache/subtitles"of emby on synology NAS. Hope i can get a method to figure it another way.
