BrandonYoung 5
I have an Acer Chromebook Spin 513 (CP513-2H). Videos were playing fine with black bars on the sides or top and bottom of the content to account for the aspect ratio until the Chromebook updated today. one of the updates was to the Android system, upgrading from Android 9 (ARC++ or Android Runtime Container) to Android 11 (ARCVM). Now the Emby app is playing videos with gray bars to correct the aspect ratio. Is there a way to get black bars back? My Emby for Android version is 3.2.92 i don't see any app log folder in the following location /Android/data/com.mb.android/files/ the emby server version is 4.7.11 embyserver.txt

Luke 37099
OK, I don't see this in my chromebook that I have for testing, but we'll try to chase it down. Thanks.
BrandonYoung 5
I think it has something to do with the upgrade to ARCVM from ARC++, I think Google is slowly rolling out the upgrade, and some models are still on the old version. The upgrade also caused rendering issues in Google's own Google Play Books app. But that is out of scope for this forum. GLant80 6
Doesn't appear to be specific to encoding, etc either. Initially I thought it was with .h265 files, but I have a couple .h264 files that one (Fast Five) plays with the gray bars, while another (Fast X) plays with black bars. Log attached where I played both files for about a minute a piece, if it helps pin down the issue at all. embyserver.txt
bjennejohn 2
Any updates here? I'm also having this issue on my new Lenovo Flex 3i chromebook (12.2" / 2023 model)
GLant80 6
I think this is purely a ChromeOS issue. I've noticed that if you dismiss/minimize the app, and then maximize it again, the grey bars are replaced by black.

Yes it is, but hopefully we can find a hack/workaround until it is resolved in the OS.

mavrik 0
Minimizing / maximizing doesn't work for me either on HP Chromebook X11 - it actually makes the outside area glitch more and become partially white/black. Funny enough, I've noticed that "Nova Video Player" has the same issue, but not VLC or MXPlayer.

Luke 37099
Are you still seeing this? I'm able to test on a Lenovo and the black bars look black to me, not gray.
BrandonYoung 5
I am still seeing light gray bars instead of black bars. I also tried power washing the chromebook and reinstalling everything.
