geremye 1
I can connect remotely from my android phone to my emby server using the web browser, everything works perfectly (http or https) using my custom domain. The mobile app does work when I am on my home network and connects via ip address, however I cannot get it to work remotely via the mobile app when using my domain (both http and https fail). When trying to connect to the server it says "Connection failure, we're unable to connect to the selected server right now. " I've tried clearing the cache from the app, and can't figure out what the issue is. It doesn't make sense to me that is works in the web browser remotely but not the app. Any ideas? Thanks. Luke 37112
Hmm, hard to say. Maybe it can't resolve the domain name?
geremye 1
but it does via the mobile website? Is there something unique about the app regarding that?
GrimReaper 3309
Does it work from your app when you insert your remote IP (not domain)?
geremye 1
Hmm, I don't think I can access my server via the external IP address. I have reverse proxy setup with Nginx on my unraid server.
GrimReaper 3309
What do you envision your domain resolves to?
geremye 1
Well maybe I just don't know how to do that. I mean if I put in the external ip address:port number on multiple devices i get a site cannot be reached page. How would I access it via external ip? GrimReaper 3309
Then I'm unclear how are you accessing your server through domain name in your Web browser. Are you sure you're entering correct IP and/or port? Edit: Which ports your NGINX is listening on? 80/443 or some custom ports? geremye 1
I connect with emby.MYDOMAIN.net and it forwards to my internal ip 192.168.X.X:8096. In my router 80 and 443 are forwarded to other internal ports in my nginx config Is that what you are asking?

So what port(s) are you entering in your Android app when you try to connect manually with your domain: 15 hours ago, geremye said: I cannot get it to work remotely via the mobile app when using my domain (both http and https fail).
