Tenyrsgone27 13
Hello, Did something change in the settings or maybe I changed something, but when I select a movie to "add to collections" the collections view is a list instead of the whole page of collections. Is there any way to get it back to the full-page view instead of a list? Thank you, Tenyrsgone27

Happy2Play 8281
I will guess you are seeing this via online app app.emby.media, but yes this is a change coming in 4.8 that can be seen via the online app.
Tenyrsgone27 13
Yes, that's the list i'm referring to. Will there be any way to change this from a list to a full page?

Tenyrsgone27 13
Why was this changed? The full-page view was much easier to navigate through vs this list.
Happy2Play 8281
Design is changing as work is done around the sidebar. But if it remains as a list, it needs an alpha picker. But currently still have keyboard typing to jump.
Gilgamesh_48 943
While I might well like that format it is useless for me without an alpha picker on the side (which I asked for a long time ago) for quick navigation to the desired collection. I believe any screen like that needs an alpha picker or it gets too cumbersome to use once you get beyond a couple of dozen entries and I have something like 300+ collections. When I want to add a movie to an existing collection it can, and does, take a long time to get to the desired collection and the new screen, because it has fewer entries per screen will take even longer. 11 minutes ago, Happy2Play said: Design is changing as work is done around the sidebar. But if it remains as a list, it needs an alpha picker. But currently still have keyboard typing to jump. There are some people that often do not have a keyboard in use when all is wanted is to add to a collection, or bunch of collections. An alpha picker is needed in all such screens, regardless of keyboard navigation, for comfortable use of the Emby web interface. I sit in a recliner and can watch all my clients and even work on the database from it but it is uncomfortable to hold a keyboard in my lap all the time. Keyboard navigation works but it is inconvenient at best for those of us that cannot sit at a desk. An alpha picker just seems so basic for this screen. BTW: I cannot see any advantage to the "new" format for add to collections. All it seems to do is greatly reduce the number of collections on the screen at any one time. And that is NOT good at all. There is a LOT of totally wasted space in the "list" format and there is "no redeeming social value" and we all know what category having "no redeeming social value" means for content and design is about the same. In other words I believe that changing to a "list" style is the coding equivalent of pornography with the "value" of at least sometimes being exciting. I see no positives in a list view and a LOT of negatives. Edited March 10, 2023 by Gilgamesh_48
arrbee99 1560
On my screen in a browser add to collection displays 30 items at a time and the new improved version is going to display 5 ? Impressive.

Luke 37063
Do you still think that? The idea is to help you get to your recently used ones quicker.
arrbee99 1560
I guess you're asking the OP, but all I see is acres of wasted space - Having Recent at the top is good idea though. How about going back to the grid but the first row consists of recent items ?
Tenyrsgone27 13
I personally do not like the list view. I like the grid view better, just my 2 cents. 1

Except that "recently used" is only one item, which is unlikely to be particularly helpful - if I'm adding a lot of things to one collection I'm probably multi-selecting them. Having a small selection of "frequently used" might help some people, but I can't imagine that cropping up much either. And if you want a collection that isn't your most recently used collection, you now have to do significantly more scrolling than previously. It's a massive pain in the ass. 1
