Tuner "no streams available" though only 1 used

From time to time I have noticed that emby will think that the tuner stream limit of 5 has been reached though no one, or only 1 user, is watching a single channel at the time.

The 1st time I noticed this was during the Superbowl when service was spotty due to either the VPN connection, or the provider being overwhelmed.   Last night is only the 2nd time this has happened though I didn't notice any network issues.

Restarting the server resolves the issue.

I will grab logs and attach when I have access to the server.

Attached is the server log from the 7th, it looks like the log was truncated when I restarted the server so this one should hold the relevant entries.

I went ahead and included all relevant remux/transcode logs up to the previous embyserver log file.

Another log for this.  The provider has a limit of 5 streams so I had that configured on the M3U tuner,  after changing it to unlimited I was able to play a channel.  It seems like the system thinks that streams are still in use on the tuner even after they are stopped, though I'm not sure in which cases it does this.

Have attempted browser and that app via phone when the issue arises, and the problem persists. Since I removed the stream limit from the tuner the issue has not come back.

I meant trying it before the problem happens, cutting out the TV app altogether, and seeing if it will occurring only the standard app. Thanks.

Oh, possibly if I force transcoding for the user so that the frame rate issues we are experiencing in the other thread are not an issue.

Can you find out for sure?

Yes, I'll be home in a few days and see if I can get that working.  If so I will re enable the limit to see if I can make the issue come back again.

Is there any hope that the APK will get a built in self update mechanism? That would be really handy for sideloaded instances long term.

If not perhaps a beta that we could join?

We're hoping to get the standard app into the store for TV devices in the near future. Thanks.

Just a note here, I was unable to complete this testing because the android APK is buggier than I thought when it comes to playback for livetv streams.  Updated my other thread as well, but apparently when it uses MediaCodec to play back, the stream is choppy, when it uses ffmpeg to render it looks fine.  Forcing transcode only seems to work sometimes.

No because I've set it to unlimited as a workaround and I'm unable to get usable playback on the CCwGTV using anything other than the current non-beta release of the Android TV app.  I could attempt to reinstate the tuner limit and see what happens now that I've put xteve in-between me and the provider.

Actually I just checked my xteve logs, emby is consuming 6 tuners even though I only have 1 user active watching 1 station.

Restarting the emby server has cleared all but 2 tuners.  The user active on my server has switched to watching a TV show (not live) so no tuners should be in use right now ideally.

I wonder if ffmpeg processes are being stuck open against the media source and orphaned by emby somehow.

There seems to be some sort of issue that tuners are not released by Emby although the client stopped playback:

Might be related?

It seems like it might crop up more if there are issues with the stream source.  If live tv is interrupted and users hammer the play button for instance.

Most of our apps have a defense against that, although we probably should go through them all to double check.
