LG Fast Forward/SKIP forward while recording

Apologies if this has been covered, but a search came up empty.

It seems with the LG app (C9and C2) I’m unable to fast forward or skip ahead while viewing a recording while in progress. Interestingly, it works fine on a Shield TV pro. I suspect the Shield is transcoding the delivery (slight delay/spinning wheel on startup) while the LG direct plays. 

If so, is there any way to force transcoding on the LG app to enable seek while recording?

Just dumped DirecTV and we’re all Emby, HDHomerun, and IPTV now.
