mickle026 400 Posted January 15, 2023 Share Posted January 15, 2023 (edited) This plugin does not replace TvMaze itself, it is a *helper only* Where TvMaze does not find the information, this plugin searches on bing and finds the ID (if it is available on TvMaze), sets the ID in Emby and allows the TvMaze plugin by Emby Dev to download the info using the ID rather than the name. Technically you shouldn't need this but in Tests I have found it will *help* identify people that TvMaze is obviously not telling the Emby Dev's TvMaze plugin it has in its database. How to use: Needs TvMaze Plugin from the Catalogue to work properly. Click on an Empty person image to trigger it. If it finds a link with a valid id (TvMaze id), then data and or image should load shortly. *A Caveat - it is possible that the wrong actor with the same name can be identified as correct* Nothing to configure or enable and it is seemless. It should work on all builds, place the dll in the /programdata/plugins directory and restart Emby. I accept no responsibilty for anything if you choose to use it, its all on you to check legallity in your country! What this does: 1. It looks on bing (not google this time) search engine for tvmaze links that contain the actor you are looking at or refreshing metadata on. 2. It collects links of possibles. 3. It only visits the links that might be valid and checks if the persons name is found in the actor page in order to verify it is valid. 4. It updates the provider Id (if found) 5. It writes a log file. Why does this help? Other metadata plugins if installed will use this id to get data such as tvmaze, themoviedb etc. This plugin might introduce a delay on person loading if *any* metadata is missing for that person. What it doesn't do: 1. It does not fetch any data on people, it only fetches the id code , fills in the field so TvMaze plugin can do the rest. mickle026 400 Posted January 23, 2023 Author Share Posted January 23, 2023 (edited) I have updated 1000's of actors in the last few days manually (whilst improving my Info.txt import plugin to support provider id's) so I don't remember individuals at the moment. My Plugin update is a big update but isn't posted at the moment as im still documenting how to use it in the webui. I know you asked a specific question but the reply will be general, whats needs improvement with the current system. Some of it I don't know what to suggest for a solution. There is an issue with refresh metadata when only metadata readers are selected, they don't run at all without an Metadata Downloader or Image Fetcher enabled. There is an issue when metadata providers do not have all the provider ids (see duplicate names) There is an issue when adding a new actor manually and dont have the provider keys There is an issue when adding an actor manually and cannot input the provider keys There is a BIG issue with duplicate names (Can be seen in a normal library but specially evident in an adult library) duplicate names is the bigger issue (many people with the same name) like https://www.imdb.com/find/?q=Paul Evans&ref_=nv_sr_srsg_9 https://www.imdb.com/find/?q=chris smith&s=nm&exact=true&ref_=fn_nm_ex (expand matches) look what entry number this guy is (entry 84!) https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5469374/?ref_=fn_nm_nm_23 However even this little helper plugin does this too...... so thats annoying... Chris Smith (probably not the best example, but there are an increasing number of them an over time that will increase further) and people like him have many actors of the same name (some people have over 30!), unless the provider id is set when an tv show or movie is added. I honestly don't know how this can be improved when nothing other than the name is available. I know it will improve with time as these databases improve and add them. When I started down this road a good while back I asked Luke why Movie or TV show names were not available in the Getmetadata "info" when I clicked a person card from a movie display, that was before I fully understood how they worked, but if that was available it could help in future. So a future query might be like: http://api.whateverprovider/?Person=Paul Evans&Appears In=Arrows of Fire This is not supported by the api's at the moment though. I wanted at that time to use it in my own api for this reason. I haven't supported it because it isn't there. Here is where i have noticed too that TvMaze is adding a Provider id to someone with an Imdb id, that is a different person, so the imdb id and the tvmaze id are pointing to different actors of the same name. So even if the person has got metadata (but something is missing triggering a lookup) when I click the person the tv maze id may populate incorrectly, because the name matches. This is more apparent in "voice over" actors for anime. I think this might be tied to tvmaze not having the other provider ids, but not sure. As well as doing some wrong it does plenty correctly too! I really dont know what emby is doing with people, something is obviously an issue when Provider Id's are not present or available ..... This is the biggest issue for me with Emby I have raised the point before that not being able to add a provider id here (ignore the names this is just a screenshot of the window to show where I am talking about) (when you add people from the editor - ie manually adding cast to an item) It changes everyone of the same name if there is not provider id present - this is a BIG problem, because others should not be linked - but they are. So because the user cannot add the id's, they cannot add a second person of the same name but different actor manually like this. Here we may need an option: Update existing Person Add a new Person This is an example of manually adding a person when someone of that name exists) - I know this actor will be correctly added by the movie adding the id from tmdb (but turn that off an see what i mean) There are many people with Chris Evans that don't add properly (Even adult actors get the English Chris Evans attachment) I add Chris Evans to Avengers: End Game (the actor on the right) I have to use (II) on their name which I do not want and manually check how many others of the same name there are (Chris Evans). Adding an actor manually as Chris Evans with th movie editor always attaches to the first db entry - the English Presenter. So Avengers Endgame will add the actor on the left, I have no choice here, I have to add (II) to the name to stop Emby doing that. So now I have added the person, I have to Search Chris Evans (II) to get the Person view (without the movie) edit them in a seperate place Chnage their title and sort title to simply Chris Evans then add the imdb id nm0262635 so now I have more Chris Evans in my db, because they were added with seperate keys (guid) This then affects everything Click each actor and then "appears in" They are seperate - show different items. The one on the left has 8 in my database, whilst the one on the right shows 50+ Again still with Chris Evans - in an adult library - the wrong person identified and attached Another This one is correct This one had to be manually edited as there is currently no id available, these movies are not in any of the databases so suffer with the duplicate name issue. A Custom Provider id, thats manually added seems to be ignored and the 4 metadata provider ids Imdb, Tvdb, Tmdb, TvMaze trigger an "can" and "do" fetch the wrong person. To be honest, I can't believe that this method can improve anything. The only effect with this method is that you will get additional wrong persons. But then, our TvMazePersonProvider compares the year of birth of the persons in the TvMaze results and compares it with the birth-year that is stored in Emby (if there is one). It it doesn't match, it doesn't use the result from TvMaze. That's the only reason for not taking a result. So when you do a Bing search for finding the person name at TvMaze and then look at the TvMaze page and the name matches, then our TvMaze provider will have surely gotten this person result directly when querying. When the person has not TvMaze Id, then it means that our person provider did not take that person due to mismatching birth year. When you say your plugin will cause more TvMaze Ids to be assigned to persons in Emby, then the most likely conclusion is that these are the persons where the year of birth didn't match. Im not trying to read remote files, my plugin reads local files. As I dont have this particular movie in my movie api, I get no results from there. (so cross talk about a metadata reader is now in this thread) 2. A small thing where tvmaze was not getting some id's. We'll agree to dissagree here. Im not going to argue about it. Answering point 2, As I posted in the top of the plugin information *A Caveat - it is possible that the wrong actor with the same name can be identified as correct* Technically you shouldn't need this but in Tests I have found it will *help* identify people that TvMaze is obviously not telling the Emby Dev's TvMaze plugin it has in its database. There was some at the time of testing although I cannot remmber which people at this time. I agree with your statement that you should have the information available, but I dont know why I retrieved several correct people where tvmaze plugin itself didn't. Probably something to do with search engine filtering as opposed to api filtering.. I don't know. This plugin goes to the page and looks to see if the name is in the content, which if its on there as an alias it would be. So maybe aliases? As in my screenshot above Mary Hart is wrong. 4th person image, is a recent TV Presenter, not a western actor. It is actually Lynne Roberts stage name (nm0731376) I have no idea what you can do about that when the movie is missing from the search query I can fix it with my plugin (the one I have not uploaded yet) by adding a cast line Cast: Lynne Roberts as Mary Hart (Stagename) [ Imdb: nm0731376 ] But in Embys current Editing form this is nigh on impossible to do within the Web Gui without altering the other May Hart if her actual name was Mary Hart! It could also be an issue regarding string formats, maybe chars are not handled properly, that's always a possible source of error. Actually, I don't have good content for testing these things. Would you be able to PM me file lists for a few Chinese and Japanese series? The creation is easy, just change to a series folder in a command window and run dir /B /S > filelist.txt With that list I can create a fake library - should have done this long ago for having some Anime content for testing. mickle026 400 Posted January 24, 2023 Author Share Posted January 24, 2023 (edited) Heres some fake anime DVD library folders with a fake .mp4 file inside (these are DVD's not individual films, but some will identify as single films) 220 of them with Posters, and Emby generated *.nfo's Emby will just pick this up and try adding it straight away because it thinks there are real movies in there (obviously ffprobe will error) If you want more let me know i have lots and lots ...... A Fake Anime library.zip My content is not in series order or chinese/japanese order. They are DVDs. Everything from everywhere is in there in alphabetical folders (A-Z). And this particular FAKE DVD library has over 85,000 fake DVDs in it (with 0 byte fake .mp4 files). Its over 8 gigabytes in size without actually having a single real movie in it. (it has posters though) I created it and other similar libraries solely for testing my plugin as much as i could as well as for finishing myMovieApi plugin later on ... There was some chat that I read said they were different api endpoints and that tvmaze would phase out the "old way" eventually.
