DLNA unable to remote play to any .TS files.

I have a fresh install of Emby Server on Windows.    From the web browser I am trying to use Emby as a DLNA controller to play any .TS file on my Sony Blu-ray player (UBP-X800M2) via Direct Play (no transcoding).

As a client the UBP-X800M2 can browse the Emby DLNA server and play all MKV, MP4, and TS files I have in my library.   

However if I try to use the browser to select the UBP-X800M2 and play the TS files there is an exception thrown in the log.    I have no issues using the browser as a DLNA controller to play any of my MKV or MP4 files.   Only the TS files have an issue.

I am able to use JRiver as a DLNA controller to direct play these files on my UBP-X800M2 so I know it is not a compatibility problem.   However, if it is only an Emby configuration issue (DLNA profile incorrect, etc) I am unsure how to solve it.

Hi, yes that's strange. We might have to send back a specific mime type for mpegts with your sony  model. Is there anyway you can find out what mime type JRiver is sending?

By mime type I mean it's information about the file that we include in the response with it.

I am not entirely sure what JRiver is using for mimetype.

If I browse the DLNA server for JRiver from my PC for a TS file the Item Type returned is TTS File.

If I browse Emby's DLNA server from my PC for a TS file the Item Type returned is MPEG.

 

What mimetype is Emby attempting to send currently?

I assume one or the other of these would work.  So if Emby is using one perhaps we can test switching to the other.

mimetype: video/mpeg
DLNAType: AVC_TS_HD_AC3

or

mimetype: video/vnd.dlna.mpeg-tts
DLNAType: AVC_TS_HD_AC3

Just following up a bit here.    I did confirm the error message 714 in the log is Illegal MIME-type being sent to the player.

 

Is changing the mime-type something I can do with a DLNA configuration or this something hard coded in to Emby?

@dwalme Currently this information is not used to automatically determine the mime type to send back, but this is being added in Emby Server 4.8. You can try it on the server beta channel if you'd like.

@Luke Sorry for the delay.   I just tested this with v4.8.0.66 and it works correctly.

I am able to browse the DLNA server from my UBP-X800M2 and play files correctly.    

I also tested using the mobile app and selecting the UBP-X800M2 as the playback device and the files start and play correctly now.
