HDHomerun - tune a frequency instead of virtual channel

As proof of concept, TVHeadend has this working for ATSC1 and it actually works very well. If I wanted to watch these 4 channels concurrently, Emby will use 4 tuners, I believe, with the following virtual addresses:

http://192.168.1.1:5004/auto/v12.1

http://192.168.1.1:5004/auto/v12.2

http://192.168.1.1:5004/auto/v12.3

http://192.168.1.1:5004/auto/v12.4

TVHeadend is allowing me to tune the frequency instead, which holds all 4 of these channels in one mux with this address:

http://192.168.1.10:5004/auto/ch485028615

It then demuxes that stream and splits it into 4 separate streams, while only occupying 1 tuner on the HDHomerun. The advantage is more channels from the HDHR at once. Instead of being limited to 4 channels we would be limited by our local TV market. In my case I think I can tune 16 channels at once from TVHeadend.

I messed around with ffprobe on the HDHR, checking the local ATSC3 frequency didn't seem to work properly though, even with the Emby build. Using ATSC3 this way would be the holy grail for some though. In markets with a "lighthouse," all the ATSC3 main networks are on one frequency. With one tuner we could have ABC, NBC, Fox, etc. I'm not sure if this is even possible with ATSC3 through the HDHR though.

Hi, yes that's correct. In Emby this would use four tuners, but this is an area we'd like to improve on in future updates. Thanks.

You can actually install 3rd party software on HDhomeruns allowing them to remote stream over the net in crystal clear quality on a good internet provider that has great upload speeds. It actually increases the life of HDhomeruns so they don't burn out as fast like they do normally. Overpriced imo also didn't they stop selling cable tv ones ?

Runs on port 49152

Can split it into more than 4 streams my friend.

Example name of this software, or link?

I'm not sure this would be on topic but I'm here to learn...
