New hosted version today, 4.7.11.10 still working great on Safari :)

@Luke, is it possible to have this version bundled in a new stable server release ?

Testing now with 4.7.11.10 and emby beta (4.8.0.21) and so far it's played without quitting for 45 minutes which hasn't happened since 4.6.

It may be solved!

EDIT: And regarding the topic of the thread, stop and resume works consistently without refreshing the page.

Unfortunately this is still a problem in 4.8.0.29 beta (although maybe less frequent than in 4.7)

Sometimes after I stop a partially-played video it won't resume, just hangs.

Other times audio/video will go out of sync and I'll stop and resume the video several times (successfully) but the sync problem persists.

The solution in both cases is to refresh the item details page.

@GeckoHave you seen either problem in the recent betas and are you still using a proxy to tweak the cache headers?

No more tweaks on my side.

been using the hosted web app but switch to .29 beta recently and the old issue is no more.

but like you, I experienced out of sync audio when resuming media. Some playback do not start either (but my drives do go to sleep so maybe emby does not wait as long as before that the first bytes arrives before timing out)

did not get the chance to warn @Luke about this since he has other more important bugs to tackle.

I've seen it with videos on my SSDs so I don't think it's wake-up timeouts.

I did some testing and I think you're right. I can reliably trigger the following error in 4.8.0.34 by putting the hard drive to sleep before clicking play.

Same errors on my side when trying to playback a file located on a spinner down disk

@Luke, not an urgent issue to solve since eventually the playback does start when waiting long enough or restarting the playback manually when the drive spins but would be nice to look into it.

Hi, we’ll take a look at it, but it’s possible the error is coming from the browser video player due to giving it a URL and then taking too long before data is available.

Agreed I also do see errors in dev tools saying that .ts files are missing.

but the errors in the logs is a new behaviour in the recent beta (>=21) that is not happening in stable release to my best knowledge (cannot test at the moment).

I'm seeing this pretty consistently on .39.

It seems to happen when I stop a movie then try to resume - playback fails with a blank screen and perpetually spinning graphic.

Going back and refreshing the page usually fixes it. I say usually because sometimes I'll refresh the page and it'll play but the slider's unresponsive so I can't navigate to my previous position, which is apparently lost with the error. I have to go back and refresh again to get it working.

 

I've attached a recent example.

This particular item was on an SSD so we can rule out slow response time.

EDIT: One detail I didn't think to mention which may be relevant - I didn't just stop playback in the browser then resume. I stoped, resumed on an ipad (which worked), stopped that, then resumed in the browser (which failed.)
