nuke11 21
I'm running Emby 4.7.8.0 on Synology NAS with an Android TV/Mobile client. The client is set to "show exteneded information". Is there a way to get it to display dolby vision extended video information like it does for 4K HDR10? I want it to show if the 4K source has Dolby Vision in it, since this is just a reading of the file's metadata.

Though there is a FR to collect that information so it can be displayed it in several places like mediainfo, SFN, etc. However, there is a plugin called Media Info which will get you what you want right now. It works by inserting that information into the mkv headers and then you tell Emby to use the internal information
nuke11 21
I think I found the plugin you are talking about. I don't think I'll use this as it seems to have to re-write all of my MKV's All of my MKV's already have HDR format / other information in them already, don't need all of my files touched. FrostByte 5052
For Versions Emby uses the filename. The first part of the filename is the same as the folder and everything after the dash should show up in the Version dropdown box. Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters (2013) - Theatrical Cut.mkv Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters (2013) - Unrated Cut.mkv As you see whatever is after the dash is what you see in the dropdown
FrostByte 5052
The first part has to be identical though and it has to match the folder name. Ex: C:\Movie\Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters (2013)\Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters (2013) - Theatrical Cut.mkv C:\Movie\Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters (2013)\Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters (2013) - Unrated Cut.mkv Edited November 5, 2022 by FrostByte
FrostByte 5052
That trick is only going to work if you have multiple versions though. If you want the DV8 information on all your movies you will need to use the plugin for now.
nuke11 21
On a synology, does it have to open each MKV file and rewrite it? Or is the fact that each file already has this info in it? HDR format :Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.08.06, BL+RPU, HDR10 compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible
FrostByte 5052
The plugin does a quick change in the header for the video and audio parts, not a remux. nuke11 21
I see what it is using the Title section. I'll create a new Library and add a single file into it, so I can what it does and how it will impact my NAS. Thank you.
nuke11 21
That was easy to setup and get running. I see it just updates the MKV. It is a work around. I hope this natively gets added to Emby 4.8, but for now I'll play around with this. Thank you. Edited November 5, 2022 by nuke11
