Hi,

I am running emby on unraid and use a Shield as a client. I listen to a lot of music and downloaded the lyrics.

They display when the song plays ok, but I was wondering, is there a way for them to be highlighted or move along as the music plays, rather than being static and manually following along and scrolling up as the music plays?

Hi.  Are they timed lyrics?

Oh wow, I learn something new every time I come here 😆

I didn't know about timed lyrics, how do I do this please?

My wife loves to drink wine and have a sing song on a Saturday night, this would make her day 😃

Timed lyrics are lyrics files containing timestamps along with the actual lyrics text. Does yours have that?

No, I don't think they do. I used a program called 'MediaHuman Lyrics finder'.

There are several apps listed in the original FR which will do sync'd lyrics

Thank you, I was unaware of this. I will take a look 🙂

Can I also ask does it matter if the files were all .Flac and not .Mp3?

Lyrics can be used with any audio format.

Sorry guys I spoke too soon.

I put the LRC files in folders but I get literally no option on the shield interface to display lyrics. So I tried on my w11 PC and the option in there but they aren't synced, I still have to manually scroll.

Am I missing someing simple here?

I believe you will need to be using the standard Android app to see the icon.

Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean by that, is the emby app that is available on the shield different? If so, then I should need to side load a different version?

I tested my firecube quickly this morning before I left for work and the lyric symbol is there, but again not synced only static.

I'm not sure but somehow must these be embedded in the flac tag to work properly, I wonder?

I just searched and see the other Emby app is for mobile clients. That is a shame.

Crazy that lyrics is not available for the android TV app 😔

The standard Android app isn't available in the store yet, but it seems to be the direction they are going toward in the future for one Android app.

The link to download the apk is in the post below.

In order to jump Emby needs to see the time codes.  I haven't seen any apps insert timecodes internally yet, but as a test I suppose one could insert them to see if it worked.

Not true anymore.  It now has a TV mode and works on the Shield.  That's where I've been testing lyrics.  It's just not available in the store yet.  See my post above.

I will install this version when I get home, I just assumed the latest version was installed.

Thank you very much for your help once more. 🙂

Installed the latest version and still no joy for me. I doubled checked the lrc files in the folders and they are all time stamped.

I wonder if it could an issue server side with the docker image.

I see the lyric button now at the top right hand side of the screen but it just doesnt do anything.

Edit*

I have also recently started to get backrounds with wrong artists too, when I check artwork etc, there is nothing there to delete/edit. For example, I have an ABBA album with all correct meta but displays katrina and the waves background picture.

Maybe something is corrupt

In the standard Android app after you click the lyric icon in the top right then in a few seconds the display should go to a single song image and look like the pic below.  If there is no lyric file it will be square in the middle, if there is a lyric file it should move to the left and start scrolling.

Internally the lrc should look something like this:

[00:21.19]It was twenty years ago today,
[00:23.75]Sgt.pepper taught the band to play
[00:26.21]They’ve been going in and out of style
[00:28.86]But they’re guaranteed to raise the smile.
[00:31.54]So may I introduce to you
[00:34.25]The act you’ve known all these years,
[00:36.77]Sgt.pepper’s lonely hearts club band.

Quote

[00:16.73]Once upon a time when we were friends
[00:21.00]I gave you my heart, the story ends
[00:25.01]No happy ever after now we're friends
[00:33.20][00:41.25]Wish upon a star if that might help
[00:37.07]The stars collide if you decide
[00:47.18]What's it like to have loved and to lose her touch?
[00:55.38]What's it like to have loved and to lose that much?
[01:03.73]Well, I hope and I pray that maybe someday
[01:08.30][02:29.27][03:26.56]You'll walk in the room with my heart
[01:12.52][02:33.60]Add and subtract but as a matter of fact
[01:16.55][02:37.42]Now that you're gone I still want you back
[01:19.98]Remembering surrendering
[01:24.01]Remembering that part, all of my heart

Mine are named exactly like the song.

514 - Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (5.1 mix).flac
514 - Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (5.1 mix).lrc

In foobar I'm using Lyric Show 3 and can rename them automatically with the format string

[%filename%]

This must be the issue, my filename format is artist - title.

I will redo them all and re test,

thanks for your patience
