Unable to register PIN with my Emby Connect credentials

I just signed up for emby premiere license,   when I setup the emby app on firetv   i'm unable to register the PIN with my emby credentials

keeps saying wrong username/password at this url https://emby.media/pin.html,

but the same username password at http://app.emby.media/  with manual login works.

Hi.  Emby Premiere and Emby Connect (the PIN process) are completely separate.  Where is your server located?

What he means is, are you trying to connect to your own Emby Server, or someone else's ?

my own emby server,  the emby client firetv app on 1st install gives  "Login with connect", or  'Skip and enter ip address' choices

to connect to your emby server.  if you choose  Login with connect,  you are told to  visit  http://emby.media/pin   and enter  a 5 digit number.

other streaming apps do this to make  user/password entry more convenient on a laptop, rather then firetv remove  entry.

The link  i go to http://emby.media/pin  doesn't accept my credentials with the app generated 5 digit pin code.

The credentials i entered are the same as  the credentials i successfully login to http://app.emby.media/

Hi.  Is the stick on the same network as the server?  Can you try the option to enter the server address manually?

the fire tv cube 2nd gen is on the same network 192.168.2.0/24 subnet as the emby server,     i've already tried entering the ip address manually, and it works.

it was a hassle every time i re-installed the emby client app i had to enter the ip address all over again.

The reason i had to uninstall it a number of time,  I had to experiment  the combinations of

emby server on nvidia shield tv pro (beta/release version)  with  emby client (beta version/amazon store version/play store android tv version sideloaded to firetv cube)  

before I could stream ATSC 3.0 (hevc codec video with ac-4 audio from hdhomerun  4k OTA tuner) to the emby client on 2nd gen fire tv cube, and everything working.

future updates could break atsc 3.0 playback, it would be nice if i could get the pin method to work.

isn't the PIN registering an account issue on the server?

When i try to register with my username, it says

That display name is in use by another member.

If you are on the local network, then using Emby Connect is of very little benefit.  The app should be discovering the server automatically.  Be sure the server machine firewall isn't blocking UDP requests.

The emby server is on an nvidia shield tv pro,  I don't think there is any firewall setup there.   the emby client is a firetv cube  no firewall there.

my main Asus router there is no iptable drop firewall rules on the bridged interface br0 for the subnet  192.168.2.0/24  (my lan)

on all firewall tables    filter, nat, mangle, raw  that  the emby server and client are using.

 

I did find a workaround now , i setup the following

in emby server->settings->Network->

Lan networks=  192.168.2.0/24

Local ip address (emby server Nvidia shield)=192.168.2.124

emby server->settings->my account->password->

local network sign in mode= Don't require a password on the local network

firetv now autodetects the emby server.

also an unusual glitch  i found my emby premier key field empty, I had to re-add the key there and save.

 

 

So What am i losing if my emby connect is not fixed?  so far suggestion have not been addressing the problem.

i tried using my phone without wifi turned on   and emby connect with a pin on url http://emby.media/pin

with an outside network or inside my lan same behavior.

could emby connect be broken because i  installed a beta emby server first, but later uninstalled and installed  4.7.6.0?

And you are using the exact same id and password that you logged into this forum with?

this forum is https://emby.media,   the emby connect url is  http://emby.media/pin     my  emby server  url is app.emby.media

my password manager had 1 password for   url=emby.media  and another for  url=app.emby.media

i reset  all the passwords on all sites and my local server to be the same,      emby connect works.
