FrAllard 8
Is this a good or a bad idea to send the transcode temp directory to the Docker Host /tmp so the transcoding is done in ram? My host has 32 GB of RAM. What will happen when the RAM is full will the transcoding crash the whole system or there is a validation done when the transcoding temp dir get full? How much space did your transcoding used in general? I only have have up to 3 sessions concurrently and only 1 or 2 might require transcoding. Hi, generally speaking you need as much space as the video you're trying to transcode. An SSD for transcode-temp will perform well enough. I don't think a RAM drive will provide additional benefit beyond that. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
FrAllard 8
Thank you for your reply, that's what I did, I have pointed the transcode-temp to a pool of ssd (zfs), I'll monitor the wear and change them before breaking!
