I am preparing to move (possibly permanently) to Emby. So I created a library with my 400 anime series.
TVDB as the first agent and AniDb + the rest as the second.

The anime plugin is set to 5000ms for AniDB.

What happen?
The series I want to force AniDB (the various monogatari for example), I enter the id and the result is the gray box with the folder (where the series poster should be) without the title.
I can click it and when you do it brings you forward (as usual) but then also giving it OK and waiting even 2 minutes for it to self-close, nothing changes. The series remains as it was.

result:

I tried to restart the emby server but nothing has changed.

Hi, your can't force it to anidb with tvdb as your first provider. It will still try to do a tvdb lookup in that situation.

I don't understand how that's possible because anidb's 2009 Suzumiya haruhi i just forced it and it worked (but still doesn't see those other series).
I have an equal backup library (with thetvdb on top and I was able to force AniDB on everything I wanted).

-------------
So,
I've always used emby as a series backup Lib.
It will be from 2019. I had to redo the backup library from 0 a few weeks ago. Because I changed the path of the files and it didn't work to modify the DB and the xml file... so I recreated the library from 0... i lost many metadata because this 😥.
These are the settings of the Backup Library (same of the old BK library):

As you can see from this screen⬇:

The monogatari series (NekoMonogatari Kuro) has been associated (I forced it with the anidb id as I have always done since 2019).

The problem is that now (since I made this giga import of the main library) AniDB does not give exactly results and does not work (BUT ONLY WITH SOME SERIES, because Haruhi was able to associate it).

AniList ID and MALID, I DID NOT PUT THEM (they have been automatically set)

Thanks in advance (I forgot to write it yesterday)

Found the problem!

image.png.0755ed8d98de73e9ba41f1c4fa9bb217.png

Got banned for specific series even with 5000ms "anti-ban" set on the plugin.
Now i need to contact AniDB and find if i can get a unban.
Now I would like to understand why I was banned if I had TheTVDB as first agent...

Anyway, for posterity who will have this exact same problem ...

DON'T CREATE LIBRARIES WITH 400+ SERIES AT ONCE!

it's clearly an emby bug, on hama it doesn't happen!!

And in fact copying the cache from jellyfin works (forcing the ID of anidb).

Maybe I had explained myself wrong, but tell me that emby only looks for the series with the agent who is the most at the top after 3 years of using it, I can assure you that you do not know what you are saying.
Since the ban does not belong to you, the problem has been solved.
Thanks for making my life better 🙃. Hope you fix the obvious bug (google is shit and translates you with you).

OK so this was all related to a ban?

This is related to the fact that having created a library with 400+ series, emby, did not use the cache for AniDB but went to use the HTTP API and thus I was banned on certain series. Also, the backup library already had 2/3 of the series that I have to force with AniDB (so the cache WAS ALREADY present and was forcibly cleared)
When you are banned, the response AniDB sends is an XML stating that you have been banned. Then Emby makes you move on (resulting in an unnamed, empty box. Makes you lose 2 minutes after you did ok (no reason, since XML is 1kb with 5 words), then go back to the library and nothing happened ( rightly).

banned xml for series id: 14038 (Isekai Cheat Magician)
series.xml

Simply put (I saw what goes on under the hood):
Put a random series.xml in the cache for the anidb series id you want to match.
Enter the id on Emby,
in the cache folder, the series.xml file you put is deleted.
Emby then starts the HTTP API request with the forced id I told him.
It is a pity that AniDB responds with a nice XML warning you that you have been banned for that series ID on the HTTP API.
Emby cares and continues as if he had downloaded the right series.xml, it makes you lose the usual 2-5 minutes on the circle that goes round to nothing.

Result: the series was not updated because there was no metadata to use.

FYI the anime plugin only contains anidb now with the latest updates. The others have all been split out into their own plugins.
