OlivetIsa 19
Hi everyone, I've got a question concerning VPN access to Emby. I'm using a Linksys WRT3200ACM router with ExpressVPN firmware to access my Emby server located on a Nas Synology, is the traffic secured and all the bandwidth hidden from my ISP ? Or do I need to use HTTPS port with SSL certificate ? Also do I need to configure DDNS service ? I've searched over the forum but I couldn't find the answer. Thanks in advance Edited June 20, 2022 by Evid3nce

As777 22
If you have a VPN at the router level then all your outgoing data from Emby will be encrypted since all outgoing traffic will pass through the VPN. I would still set up an SSL connection with a reverse proxy if you are watching outside your network so that all incoming communication between the client and your home IP address is encrypted as you do have potential for an attack here with unencrypted traffic since you will be using your home IP to connect. Buy a cheap domain name and set up Letsencrypt. There are a few guides on the forum here showing you how to do it.
