Procedure to correct mis-identified episodes?

I had a number of TV show episodes that were named improperly (so Emby identified them improperly.)

With some the season and/or episode were incorrect with others just the title.

I went through and corrected all the filenames assuming Emby would pick up the changes but it hasn't. (I ran the scheduled scan, library scan, etc.)

Even now when I correct the season/ep explicitly in the metadata then refresh to populate the rest of the fields it reverts season/ep to their previous values:

Am I doing something wrong?

I use the nfo plugin and nfo files, I wonder if that's complicating things.

Minus you having nfo files with wrong information and the UI can not update that file, I don't see how this is possible.

Unless provider metadata is broke.

Do the episodes have providerids?

Can you post the nfo file?

Can you post the server log for what you did this?

It's not a permission issue because I tried again after deleting the NFO file which emby re-created with the old information.

Is "provider id" TVDB id? If so it's 7147875.

Here's the re-created NFO and logfile excerpt for NFO delete (not logged) metadata edit and refresh:

Frontline S2011E09 - Kill + Capture.nfo

emby.txt

Yep that id is for ep8 not 9

Frontline - Fighting for Bin Laden - TheTVDB.com

Did Emby make this nfo?  As it name is correct but everything in if is for ep8.

Assume internal cached metadata is being used as the server log only shows TMDB queries and they will not work as they do not have this Series in this season order.

I would suggest removing episode and delete nfo doing a library scan, then readding episode.

Otherwise trying to give it tvdb providerid 7147878, save and refresh metadata.

But not knowing how many are wrong first route would probably be best.

Thanks - that worked for another one.

The problem is I have 70 or so mis-identified files.

Is there no better way than to do this for all of them?

Is there a way to force TVDB queries?

I tried disabling TMDB in the library but even with that it ran the same TMDB query when I refreshed metadata.

Maybe clearing the cache although I'm not sure all that entails.

They problem is you have nfo files pointing to the wrong tvdb ids so that's why the bad data keeps coming back. So not only do you need to get the numbers corrected but also those tvdb ids, or at least removed so that new ones can be fetched.

Did Emby create all nfo metadata?

As I don't know how the parser could mis-identify S2011E09 as the previous episode (E08).

But since they have been imported and identified wrong they would need to be removed, deleting previous nfo and readded,  Maybe Re-Identify the Series could correct all the episodes.

Yes.

I tried deleting the tvdb id and refreshing and that seems to have solved it. Now I'll try other episodes.

Thanks all.
