gmilho 1
I'm experiencing the same issue. I have a LG CX, Emby display subtitles fine when I'm playing a .MKV file with an external .SRT file, but when the .MKV has embedded .ASS subtitles it won't show anything. As I have a RPI 4 as my Emby/file server, I left transcode off, but after reading this thread I tried to turn it on and it didn't solve the problem. Any suggestion? All MKV files are stored locally in an external USB drive hanged to my RPI. Btw, using LG's own video player works fine.

Actually I tried again last night, trancoding was off for user I was utilizing. I turned transcoding on and direct play worked like a charm without the subtitles, but when I tried to play with embedded subtitles it kept loading forever. Logs shows that it was transcoding. So, I can't direct play embedded subtitles and RPI 4 obviously is not powerful enough to transcode the embedded subtitles, I will end up manually extracting the subtitles with my PC as I do now. Hope that in a future update the LG client becomes able to direct play embedded subtitles.
