gkatz 1
Hi all. I use a NAS to store my media and the LG built in player to play it. I just recently learned the the LG tv (all tv models) default player does not pass loseless audio down to an audio component even when a compatible eArc supporting componenet is used. So I can't enjoy loseless Atmos. I was wondering is the emby app supports this? If yes I can simply install emby server on my Nas and use the emby client on my tv... Please note I am Referring to loseless audio... Thanks for your help!
Luke 37167
hi, the Emby LG app uses LG's video player and therefore supports whatever it supports. However we have seen that it appears LG is not making Atmos passthrough available for third party apps to utilize.
gkatz 1
thanks @Luke is it mandatory for all apps on the LG tv that play a video to use the LG built in player? or is it a choice? i know plex does not pass loseless audio also if its a choice, maybe building your own player that will actually utilize eArc properly is not a bad idea. it will bring you tons of users that are looking for that... currently, there is no other option other than sticking some streamer in the middle and pass audio straight to the audio system and video to the TV to bypass this issue...
