bandit8623 48
my nvidia shield direct plays 99% of all my hvec files just fine. the windows theater app on auto transcodes to 1080p h.264... the file is hvec 1080p . 2070 rtx so there should be no reason it cant direct play as plex direct plays the same file. even setting to 1080p 60 fps forced the quality is not the same... not to mention unnecessary server cpu usage. all devices im testing are hardwired 1 gig nics can we get play direct option in the quality section? plex has this thx Edited April 4, 2022 by bandit8623
bandit8623 48
so it ended up being i had to buy the hevc codec from the windows store.... why are you guys not including a player that can decode hvec by default? also the emby app is super dumbed down now in the video playback section... Happy2Play 8356
There is a store app and a desktop app. I can only guess you are referring to the store app that uses the platform player while desktop uses mpv. But the free HEVC codec is the same as the pay one. You can still get it for free. Copy/paste this link into the browser: ms-windows-store://pdp/?ProductId=9n4wgh0z6vhq Or, open command prompt, and type/paste: start ms-windows-store://pdp/?ProductId=9n4wgh0z6vhq Click "Install". or from Codecs.com | Downloads for HEVC Video Extension 1.0.50361 (free-codecs.com)
