Collection Visible under "Collections" but doesn't show up in Movies

I have two collections that show up on the Collections tab, but they do not show up when I look in the movies library, but all my other collections do.  When I look at the collection from the collection tab, I can see all the movies in there, and can play them from there.  But when on the movies tab, even if I don't group by collection, none of these moves are anywhere to be found.

I'm so confused how something can be in the collection, but not in the library it got the collection from.

Other things of note (maybe):

  • Emby is not saving images or nfo file to the folders with these movies, but has for all my other movies.
  • When I view the Movies library in Infuse on my apple tv 4k, I can see these collections in that UI.
  • This all seems new since the latest update on synology package center to 4.6.7.0-704060700
  • Startup log after a restart: https://pastebin.com/Y87eEZJJ

Any thoughts?

Hi Luke!

Yes, they are in the folder that the library is based on.

GrimReaper

You're also missing Lethal Weapon Collection in Library view, which should be there between Leon and Logan. And your Nightmare... Collection should have more CDs on poster (like on Rocky Collection), as there's are 8 items within.

Do you have any Filters enabled in your Movie library (Filter button will be blue)?

WOW.  Do I feel dumb now.  Yes, there was a filter, when I cleared it, the movies showed up correctly

Thank you for helping me see that!  I am still curious about the metadata files and images not being written though...if anyone has any idea about that

I don't **think** it is a permissions issue, because some of them have nfo, and images and some of them don't, so that means at least some of them are able to write to the folders.  I have docker containers that move my video files into the directory for emby to pick them up so they are owned by my docker user, but the emby system user in synology has full control of these folders.

For instance:

'/volume1/Media/Movies/N/New Nightmare (1994)':
total 18142812
       0 drwxrwxr-x 1 dockerlimited users 48 Mar 21 18:52 .
       0 drwxrwxr-x 1 dockerlimited users 660 Mar 21 18:55 ..
18142812 -rw-rw-r-- 1 dockerlimited users 18578238558 Nov 5 05:28 'New Nightmare (1994).mkv'

'/volume1/Media/Movies/N/Next Friday (2000)':

       0 drwxrwxr-x 1 dockerlimited users 94 Feb 14 17:49 .
       0 drwxrwxr-x 1 dockerlimited users 660 Mar 21 18:55 ..

'/volume1/Media/Movies/N/North by Northwest (1959)':

       0 drwxrwxr-x 1 dockerlimited users 220 Feb 1 13:08 .
       0 drwxrwxr-x 1 dockerlimited users 660 Mar 21 18:55 ..
      52 -rwxrwxr-x 1 dockerlimited users 50610 Jan 11 15:02 fanart.jpg
     124 -rwxrwxr-x 1 dockerlimited users 124053 Feb 1 13:08 'North by Northwest (1959).en.srt'

      16 -rwxrwxr-x 1 dockerlimited users 16028 Jan 31 22:30 'North by Northwest (1959).nfo'
     608 -rwxrwxr-x 1 dockerlimited users 619203 Jan 7 10:15 poster.jpg

Is there a good action I can take, and then post the log file to figure out what is going on here?

Thanks!

Justin

What exactly is the problem?

Best guess permission.  Can you select edit images on say "New Nightmare (1994)" and change a image and post the server log.

Looks like you were right!  Thanks for telling me the right thing to see the error in the log.  I assumed (wrongly) that the emby user having read/write permissions to the share in Synology DSM would allow that user to read/write in the folder even though it was owned by dockerlimited (my docker user).  That wasn't correct, so I changed the ownership to emby:emby (and added dockerlimited to emby group) and all look well now.

Thank you for the help everyone!
