Tester 45
Who/what determines if a client/device can sort a music library by genre ? The Server or the Client ? I am finding conflicting info on this topic and cannot get this to work. My Setup: MB3 Profile MYMUSIC linked to library Music Bubbleupnp on tablet as renderer Folder structure: \\Music\ Artist - Album\ Artist - Song Title.mp3 Tags: Artist, Song Title, Year, Genre, Album, Track, Album Artist The MB3 library viewer allows genre sorting, but bubble does not. I am not sure if this is Bubble issue but I have seen screenshots of the app sorting by genre. Thanks Edited September 23, 2014 by Tester

Tester 45
After much research I have yet to figure out this function.
Luke 37064
we expose search/sorting capabilities but very few devices actually use them. that's why we also render out custom categories. we'll need to add genres at some point.
Beardyname 194
Can you test with any other browser than bubbleupnp? also are you sure there is an "sort by genre" view for dlna? I can browse my music just fine via DLNA but nothing about sorting or genres. Edited October 3, 2014 by Beardyname
Tester 45
Luke, thanks for the response, at least now I know what is controlling that particular sort order. Genre would be great especially in music where I would guess most people have a larger library than say movies.

Tester 45
Sorry for the late response, have not had the time to fully test this out. Although Genre does show up, it is not working properly. Although various Genres show up once selected, only the Artists under that particular Genre show ( I was hoping for Albums ). But more importantly, once the artist is selected, the artist JPG is played.. not the music for that Artist. To take a bit further, Tier 1 Album Artists, Artists and Genre all suffer from the same problem... Once anything is selected from these groups, the JPG plays and not the music. The only Tier 1 groups that work correctly are Latest, Albums and Songs. Edited December 11, 2014 by Tester
Tester 45
To rule out the renderer/player, I turned off MB3 DLNA and used WMP12 instead which works properly. So the issue is MB3.
Tester 45
Although this is probably a low priority issue, but can I at least know if this will be looked at ? Edited December 22, 2014 by Tester
godfuture 2
Sorry for the late response, have not had the time to fully test this out. Although Genre does show up, it is not working properly. Unfortunately only the jpg is opened, not the music. With Kodi and BubbleUPnp it was possible, so I guess it is not BubbleUPnp. Might the jpg be changable to the music stream? This (jpg opens) happens only while browsing artists, but browsing album works fine.
Luke 37064
What issue? on my dlna test devices I see music genres sorted in the correct order.
Henry78 0
The issue is - as I quoted godfuture - that I can't browse songs from the artists view, because instead of the artists' songlist, only the artist-jpg is opened. Setup: BubbleUPnP and lastest emby. If I use eezUPnP and choose browse by artists, no songs at all are listed. In either client, when browsing by album listing and playing songs works. Sorry for following up so late, didn't check my spam.
Henry78 0
As I've verified this problem now with a clean install, I'll start a separate thread as I clearly have hijacked this one.
